According to some inside sources of RadarOnline, Hilaria 'begged' producers to let her join Dancing With The Stars due to her family's reported financial struggles following her actor-husband, Alec's, ongoing legal troubles. For those unaware, Alec came under scrutiny in 2021 after he was rehearsing with a prop gun on the set of his film, Rust, when it got discharged and fatally struck cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins and injured director, Joel Souza. It was followed by a lengthy criminal investigation, multiple lawsuits, before the charges were dismissed after trial. The source claimed she was on the initial list of potential contestants and was brought in at the last minute after another celebrity dropped out. According to a production insider: 

"She was never at the top of their list. Honestly, she wasn't even ON the list. But when a star bailed, Hilaria was standing by with her dance shoes already packed."

Meanwhile, Hilaria's DWTS co-host, Julianne Hough, made similar comments, claiming that she planned her presence on the show through social media campaigns. Hilaria addressed the claims during a conversation with the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast and revealed that she admires Julianne, but her claims were not the truth. Instead, she recently joined TikTok and shared dance-related content, which led fans to suggest that she participate in the show. Eventually, she got a call from producers asking her to join. She described it as a 'magical twist of fate.' Sharing her views on Julianne's comments, Hilaria said:

"I don't know where she got that from. I loved it. Because I saw that too, and I was like, 'That's not how it happened.' But I love that story, I actually love that story. I wish I had manifested it... I guess it depends on which way you look at it."

Hilaria Baldwin and her professional partner, Gleb Savchenko, were eliminated from Dancing With The Stars on October 7, 2024. She opened up about the exit to E! News and expressed that she was somewhat disappointed with how the voting system worked on the show. However, she loves to join and has no regrets about it. Instead, she enjoyed every moment being on the show. In her words:

"There is a strategy where voters will vote for everybody else to drown down the couple they don't want to make it. It's a reality show, not just a dance competition. I just love to dance, and I wanted to have a good time. Every single moment was just so fun, and I'm very grateful for the experience."
