Popular Punjabi singer and actor, Diljit Dosanjh has been in the limelight for a while now. It has not been for the right reasons. An old video of the singer went viral on Reddit, where Diljit reportedly had met Recording Academy/Grammys President, Panos A. The Grammy President asked Diljit about his professional life, and his views related to music. Diljit stole the limelight as he tried his best to speak in English on the stage in front of the masses.

On the professional front, Diljit has tasted success due to his catchy music that has a vibe, collaborations with global stars such as Ed Sheeran, Sia and also had a car hangout with Shakira. Diljit had sat down for an interview with Recording Academy/Grammys President, Panos, and the clip went viral on Reddit. Diljit was seen talking about how his performance at Coachella was a challenge 100% but by the second weekend, even the Coachella security said that they didn't want to miss his performance. Diljit said:

"They said at that time I thought something has changed. Even after that, the Coachella head guy is big. He said he wants to meet with you, so I think now these days, countries are all at war with each other, right? And we don't have control over these things. But I think music is a way to unite across nations. I am blessed to be a part of music and share love across nations. Sound is god for me, and I don't listen to music like this: Middle Eastern music or hip-hop music or this genre."

Diljit in the interview shared in English that he does not listen to genre type but only listens to music and does not care whether it is R&B, pop or any type. One Redditor seeing him talking in English commented, "You could clearly see he is putting an act, I feel that he is even faking his indian accent here making it sound like he is picking up words and talking, he is a performer and singer and acts in movies, its all about the image." One user also wrote, "This guy always seemed shady to me. He is just an act." A third Redditor also shared, "Lol.. the joke is on him now. After admitting everywhere that he can't speak much English, abhi to accha jaarh raha hai!"

When Diljit Dosanjh revealed English Language was his weak spot

For the longest time, Diljit has shared that his English has not been perfect, and he finds it extremely difficult to express himself even in the language. The singer shared about how he was comfortable talking in Punjabi and not English. Diljit was pretty honest about his blind spot and had also shared in the interview that if he knew English, then he would have been very successful in his life. Even before his MET Gala 2025 debut, Diljit was seen sitting having a car ride with Shakira, where he was seen learning English via Chat GPT on his phone. When he once sat down for an interview with Anupama Chopra in 2020, Diljit on his English knowledge had shared:

"Ek hi kami hai mere mein bas, mujhe English nai aati."
