Does the name Divya Kumar sound familiar to you? If not, let us tell you that he has worked on some of your most favourite Bollywood songs, such as, Shubhaarambh, from the film Kai Po Che, Sunn Saathiya, from ABCD 2, and more. Another song that was supposed to be added to his discography but unfortunately didn't make the cut is Tenu Ki Pata from The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, now recognised in Diljit Dosanjh's voice.
The 36-year-old Divya Kumar revealed in a recent interview with Digital Commentary about what really happened after he was replaced from the final version of the viral track Tenu Ki Pata. Opening up about his emotional journey, he said:
“I had received a great opportunity from Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It was for Aryan Khan’s Ba***ds of Bollywood. I had originally sung Tenu Ki Pata, but later they replaced it with Diljit Dosanjh’s voice. They offered me an insane amount of money to compensate, but I refused to take it. I rejected the money because it was Shah Rukh Khan’s company. I had tears in my eyes when I was sitting in his office.”

While most people would have gladly accepted the large sum of money, especially since it was coming from Shah Rukh Khan's company, it became the very reason that made Divya Kumar turn down the offer. Kumar's admiration for the actor could not be shaken in front of money, as he was quoted as saying:
“It was SRK who made me. I was inspired by him. Every time I was rejected from a show or competition, I would go outside Mannat and cry my heart out. He gave me the strength to move forward. Like how others believe there’s a divine energy guiding them — for me, that energy is SRK.”

Having been in the industry for nearly 15 years, Divya Kumar has lent his voice to several viral tracks, but the only chance to sing in one of Shah Rukh Khan's films came to him in 2018. It was for the film Zero, also starring actresses, Anushka Sharma, and Katrina Kaif. Alongside singers Sukhwinder Singh and Swagat Rathore, Kumar sang the song Ishqbaazi, composed by Ajay Atul, and written by Ishrat Kamil for Zero.
