Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu were once hailed among the hottest couples in Bollywood. The duo impressed the audience with their scintillating chemistry in Vikram Bhatt’s film, Raaz. The film is remembered to date for its romantic scenes, melodious songs and dialogues. Dino and Bipasha managed to ace the role of the lead pair as their off-screen romance beautifully showed onscreen as well. However, their whirlwind romance also ended during the shoot of Raaz.
In an interview with News18 Showsha, Vikram Bhatt opened up about how Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu's breakup impacted the shooting on the set of the film, Raaz. Recalling an episode, he shared that they were both fighting during the shooting for their wedding song, Main Agar Saamne, in the film. He mentioned that Bipasha was crying and Dino was unhappy during the scene. In Vikram's words:
“I remember a tragicom situation where we were shooting for their wedding song, Main Agar Saamne. There’s this line in the song – Apni shaadi ke din abb nahi door hai – and it was during this scene that they were both fighting. I remember Bipasha crying and Dino unhappy.”

After witnessing the incident, Vikram Bhatt felt helpless and decided to have a chat with Bipasha and Dino. He advised the duo to postpone their fight so that the shoot could happen smoothly. After that, they all had lunch together, but it was evident that Bipasha and Dino's relationship was falling apart. Finally, after Raaz was released, they parted ways. Vikram said:
“I told them said, ‘Guys, you can’t fight! We’re shooting a shaadi ka song. Why don’t you suspend the ceasefire for two days?’ And then we had lunch together. But yes, their relationship was falling apart. I’m not the kind of person who goes into the personal lives of his actors. So, I don’t know what had transpired. Soon after Raaz, it completely fell apart.”
There is no denying that Bipasha Basu's career received a boost after the film, Raaz, but she wasn’t the first choice for it. Initially, Lisa Ray was offered to play 'Sanjana Dhanraj' in the film, but she exited for personal reasons. Talking about the same, Vikram said that Dino was cast in the film upon Mukesh Bhatt's suggestion, as he was a good-looking boy with a career in front of him. Vikram said:
“Dino was someone who Mukesh ji had suggested. I remember editing Kasoor at that point in time, and he came to meet me. Dino had a film that was released before Raaz with Twinkle’s sister, Rinke, called Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi. But that didn’t do too well. He was obviously a good-looking boy who had a career in front of him. It was Lisa who was supposed to play Bipasha’s role and we did one schedule with her and Dino. Unfortunately, she had some personal issues because of which she couldn’t continue the shoot.”

After Dino was roped in for the role, he recommended his then-girlfriend, Bipasha Basu, for the film. Back then, the actress was doing the film, Ajnabee, directed by Abbas-Mastan. So, when Vikram contacted the film's writer, Robin Bhatt, to ask about Bipasha, he got positive feedback. This is how the actress came on board and was cast beside Dino in Raaz. Vikram concluded:
“At that time, Bipasha and Dino were dating. He said to me, ‘Why don’t you meet Bipasha? She might be good for the film.’ Back then, she was also doing a film called Ajnabee with Abbas-Mastan and it was written by a senior colleague of mine, Robin Bhatt. I called him up and asked him about her and he told me that she’s really good. I narrated the script of Raaz to her and she came onboard.”
