When Abhishek Bachchan Discarded Sonali Bendre's Friend, Dipannita Sharma, Bipasha Basu Had Warned

Abhishek Bachchan may have found true love in Aishwarya Rai, but before the actress entered his life, he had his string of affairs. After breaking up with Karisma Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, the actor, had reportedly secretly pursued Dipannita for more than two months before they started being in a relationship. The actress is best known for her movies like Asambhav, Koi Aap Sa and My Brother Nikhil.

Sonali Bendre had introduced Dipannita Sharma to Abhishek Bachchan

A report by India Today revealed that Sonali had introduced her friend, Dipannita to Abhishek. Dipannita hailed from a family of freedom fighters in Assam and reportedly was not ready to date someone from the Bollywood industry. Things worked out slowly and steadily, but Junior Bachchan never had the guts to accept the relationship in public. He used to always tell her to keep a low profile about their relationship and never speak about it to the media. Earlier, in an interview with the Times Of India, Dipannita had shared:

"The time that has gone by holds absolutely no importance in my life. It's zilch, nothing. Neither do I want to give a clarification nor a confirmation relating to Abhishek."

It is said that Abhishek and Dipannita had a good time together, but he had hurt the feelings of the actress in the most cowardly manner. Their relationship ended due to his cowardly act, and reportedly, Abhishek then started getting attracted to Aishwarya. Once, on his birthday, Dipannita had planned a party, but he cancelled it, stating that his dad, Amitabh, was not well. It is said he then had a party at his bungalow and Aishwarya was the special guest.

Reportedly, Bipasha and Dipannita were roommates during their modelling days. Aishwarya and Abhishek had done a string of films together right, from Umrao Jaan, Dhoom 2, and Guru, to name a few. They were not shy about sharing screenspace but used to be cautious at public gatherings. Reportedly, when Abhishek used to shoot for Umrao Jaan in Jaipur, he used to tell Dipannita of his hectic work and that mood swings were affecting their bond. It is said that Bipasha Beintg, Dipannita's friend, had warned the actress of his growing closeness with Aishwarya.

It is said that Abhishek did not want his relationship with Dipannita to be out in the public eye. This was because he was not flourishing in his career when he started off. He wanted his professional life rather than personal life to be in the limelight. Dipannita earlier had also said, "Abhishek was never a friend." 

It is also said that Aishwarya gelled well into the Bachchan parivaar and used to attend parties, dinners, visit temples with the family. During the premiere of Guru in Toronto, Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya. She accepted the same without any thoughts, and Dipannita was left behind in nursing and mending a broken heart. Many reports claimed that Abhishek was not fair with her in love.
