Dipika Shares First Vlog Post Tumour Surgery, Recalls 'Shoaib And I Hugged, Broke Down In Corridor'

Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim are among the most beloved couples on Indian Television and they have often been open about their romance, marriage and parenting joys with the fans. But amid this joy, the duo recently came across an unexpected phase after Dipika was diagnosed with second-stage liver cancer. A month later now, after she underwent surgery and is bravely fighting the battle, the actress returned with her first vlog and gave an emotional insight into how she got to know about the illness and how her husband, Shoaib, their whole family and medical staff are supporting her. 

Dipika Kakar recalls her and Shoaib's first reaction after her cancer diagnosis

Dipika Kakar recently made a comeback on her YouTube channel after a month-long break and began the video by sitting on a familiar yellow chair, which is often seen in her vlogs. She became emotional and mentioned how she feels happy to be back at her home, with her family and son, Ruhaan. The Sasural Simar Ka actress expressed gratitude to all her fans who prayed for her and who helped her sail through some of the darkest days of her life. Talking about weaning off her son, Ruhaan, Dipika mentioned that she did it in one night and cried a lot. But, feels it was a vital decision as now she will have to intake a lot of medicines and undergo treatments. In her words:

"The most difficult thing in this month has been weaning off Ruhaan in one night. Mere paas option hi nahi tha, I had to do it and main bahut royi uss din raat mein because of course wean off hona tha hi tha, Ruhaan do saal ka ho gaya lekin iss tarah se hoga yeh nahi socha tha.”

After that emotionally painful phase as a mother, Dipika underwent multiple endless test reports, and it was followed by a heartbreaking confirmation about her having stage 2 cancer. Initially, her husband, Shoaib, knew about the report but didn't tell her and when they went to meet a specialist, Dr. Somnath, she asked Shoaib if he knew about the result. He admitted that there was a little issue and when she asked for the report to read it, she was left in shock. Recalling the unforgettable moment, Dipika said:

"Maine Shoaib se puccha ki you know what the result of the AFP report is, and he just looked at me and said, that usme thodi gadbad hai. Phir maine dekha toh thodi nahi bohot gadbad thi, and that moment uss corridor mein khade hoke, we both broke down. Shoaib bhi ro diye, unhe hug karke mai bhi rone lagi.”

Dipika Kakar reveals how Shoaib has been her biggest strength amid her health scare 

In the same conversation, Dipika Kakar shared that she had fear and a lot of negative thoughts particularly about her son, Ruhaan. But, through all that and her painful treatment, Shoaib has been a source of unwavering strength for her and credited him for her speedy recovery. She mentioned that even when the doctor explained to them about the course of treatment, her husband held her hand and was with her at every step of her treatment. Sharing her feelings, Dipika said: 

"He was there with me and took care of me like a parent takes care of their child. I was even scared of PET Scan, but he touched my feet and prayed there all the while. He had given me medicines on time. Even when I used to sneak into the washroom to ensure his sleep didn't get disturbed, and he used to wake up and ask what happened. He gave me food on time and is even concerned about every small detail until now."

In the end, Dipika took the name of every doctor and nurse in Kokilaben Hospital's staff who looked after her, including her cleaning staff. She also mentioned that her sister-in-law, Saba, wanted to meet her, but she had welcomed a baby boy, Haider, a few days ago, and everyone stopped her. In addition, the Bigg Boss 12 winner mentioned that her mother-in-law looked after her son, Ruhaan, despite her old age and her household staff didn't take a holiday to look after her and their family.
