Disha Vakani's Brother, Mayur Reveals The Real Reason His Sister Won't Return As 'Daya Ben' In TMKOC

Disha Vakani captured the audience's attention with her portrayal of 'Daya Ben' in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Disha began her journey in the show back in 2008, and it was in 2017 that she took maternity leave and left the show, never to return. Ever since Disha left the show, the audience had been eagerly waiting for her return, given that she nailed her character in such a way and left the void so deep that it could never be fulfilled.

Well, the anticipation has been building up about Disha's return to the show, and now her brother, Mayur, has revealed that she won't be returning to the show soon, sharing the real reason behind it. In an interview with ETimes, Disha Vakani's brother, Mayur revealed that his sister won't be reprising her role in the sitcom, TMKOC.

Revealing the real reason behind the same, Mayur shared that Disha is busy fulfilling her duties as a mom in real life. Mayur said that he has been seeing his sister, Disha's journey closely, even though he is two years older than her. Mayur mentioned that he believes that if someone performs with honesty and hard work, blessings follow automatically. Mayur shared that his brother has worked extremely hard and has been blessed, which is why people loved her way too much. Disha's brother could be quoted as saying:

"I have seen her journey closely since I am two years older than her. One thing I’ve realised is that when you perform with honesty and belief, God’s blessings follow. She truly is blessed, but along with that, she has also worked extremely hard. That is why people have showered so much love on her as Daya."

Going further in the interview, Mayur shared that his and Disha's father taught them that whatever role they would play in real life, they should do it dedicatedly. Mayur revealed that as his sister, Daya is now fulfilling the role of a mom, she is doing it dedicatedly, which he believes his sister follows the same. Disha's brother was heard saying:

"My father always taught me the right way—that even in life, we are actors. Whatever role we are given, we should perform it sincerely. We still follow his teachings. Currently, she is playing the role of a mother in real life and she is performing that role with full dedication. I truly believe this was always in my sister’s mind too."

Asit Modi talked about Disha Vakani's possible return on TMKOC

Earlier, in an interview with Money Control, Asit Modi revealed that he often gets asked whether Disha Vakani would reprise her role as 'Daya Ben' in TMKOC. He also revealed that people fondly remember Daya even after she left the show 7-8 years ago, and thus, answering the question of whether she would return to her role again is tough for him. Asit Modi mentioned that replacing Daya wouldn't be easy, and no artists could fill the void that the actress has left while leaving the show. The director further shared that he and the other makers are really enthusiastic about bringing Daya back to the show, and only then would Popatal's wedding take place.
