Divya Dutta, one of the iconic actresses of Bollywood, is known for playing supporting roles with so much love and feelings that they become larger than the main character. Whether it was her role as 'Shabbo' in Veer Zaara, or as the sister of Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Apart from leaving a mark in Bollywood, Divya's personal life has been a rollercoaster. She had a broken engagement, and at the age of 47, she preferred staying single than being in an ugly marriage.
During an interview with Hindi Rush, Divya Dutta talked about her views on marriage and stated that if you find a good partner, then the marriage is great. If you don't find one, then also life is beautiful. She shared the importance of nurturing yourself rather than staying in a dysfunctional marriage. She said:
"If you find a good partner, it's great to be married. If not, life moves on beautifully. It's better to nurture yourself than stay in a dysfunctional marriage. Rather than lowering yourself in a relationship, it's better to love yourself. There’s a lot of male attention coming my way and I enjoy that, but a relationship should happen when you connect. You feel that the person can hold your hand. If that isn’t there, I have many lovely friends around me, and I am there for myself."
When the interviewers further probed why she chose not to get married, Divya gave a candid reply and stated that in life, she had held many wrong hands. She stated that she would not want to get married, but she would love to have a companion with whom she could explore the world. And if not, then she is happy. Divya said:
"Kyunki mai ne bahut galat haath pakade hai.. Toh aap aisa seekhte hai. Trial and error learning hoti hai jindagi mein. Mai toh bahut Yash Chopra, Karan Johar wali filmon ki, Karwa Chauth, yeh sab waali feeling rakhti thi. Lekin there comes a time when you feel, you look for completeness outside which is not necessary. Vo bhi seekhte hai. Vo bhi aap seekhte hai ki acha life partner aayega aisa jarruri nahi hai. Aap completeness apne mein aap mein dhunde tab aap koi aakar us cheej ko cherish kar skta hai."
Divya Dutta was last seen in the film, Chhaava, which was directed by Laxman Utekar. The film also featured Vicky Kaushal as 'Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj' along with Akshay Khanne as 'Aurganzeb', and Rashmika Mandanna as 'Yesubai Bhonsale'. The film earned almost Rs. 807.88 crore worldwide. It is now available on Netflix.
On the work front, Divya would be next seen in the film, Nastik, co-starring, Arjun Rampal, directed by Shailesh Verma. The film also features Ihana Dhillon and Harshaali Malhotra. However, the release date has not yet been announced.
