The crash of Air India AI171 has marked the entire country's heart with pain and trauma. Amid that, a doctor allegedly threatened to crash the Air India Express flight, causing further fear, ruckus and pain to her co-passengers and the country. The woman who is being alleged as a doctor was seen arguing with the crew over extra luggage and even threatened to crash the flight if her bags were not kept.
The AI171 victims' families have not even finished saying their final goodbyes to their loved ones when the video of a doctor's insensitive comments surfaced on the internet. A video which has been circulating on social media shows a woman who has been identified as Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai arguing with her co-passengers and the crew over her extra baggage not being kept.
The incident happened on the Air India Express flight, flying from Bengaluru to Surat on June 17, 2025, when Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai entered the flight with extra baggage and allegedly kept it in the restricted area. The aircraft's crew objected to the placement of the bag, and the 36-year-old Ayurvedic doctor got into a fight with the crew, resulting in the flight being delayed by two hours after the threat led to a security scare. The accused was travelling alone and threatened to crash the plane if her bags were not kept. She was quoted as saying:
"Keep my bag or I will crash the plane."
According to the police, the Ayurvedic doctor was booked on the Air India Express flight, IX2749. However, she skipped the check-in counter, insisting on taking both her bags on board. However, the situation escalated after Vyas left one of her bags near the crew cabin and took the other to her seat, 20F. Additionally, when the crew asked her to keep the bag in the overhead compartment near her seat, she refused, insisting that they keep it with them.
Despite repeated requests from the Air India Express flight crew, Vyas refused to comply and began abusing the staff. The confrontation soon involved fellow passengers as they tried to reason with her. However, the intervention further agitated her, and she threatened to crash the plane if her luggage was moved. Given the threat, the captain alerted the security and called CISF personnel, who boarded the aircraft and offloaded her.

According to a report by TOI, the incident took place between 2:45 pm and 5:30 pm. The complaint was filed by Agnimitra Bahinipati, associate manager of security at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Police further revealed that Vyas Mohanbhai did not stop there, and once she was taken to the police station, she continued to abuse and manhandle police officers, creating further disturbance. A senior officer was quoted as saying:
"This was the first time we heard such abusive language in the station."
In further conversation Police revealed that they had a chat with Vyas' husband, who works in an educational institution. He informed them that she had stopped practising medicine and was en route to Gujarat to visit her family. He reportedly told police she had created disturbances in public spaces in the past. Police are now verifying her background and previous incidents.
