Dragon Movie: Meet Actor, Pradeep Ranganathan, Heroines Rejected Him, Allegedly Dating Kayadu Lohar

Dragon movie is dominating the headlines and receiving positive reviews from critics after its release in theatres on February 21, 2025. Dragon is a Tamil-language coming-of-age comedy-drama film which has been labelled as the "Third Blockbuster of 2025" by the viewers. Netflix acquired the film's streaming rights on January 15, 2025, weeks before its theatrical release on February 21 2025, which speaks volumes about Dragon's story. The film will premiere on Netflix on March 21, 2025, in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Talking about Dragon's performance at the box office so far, according to a report in Sacnilk, the film collected Rs. 6 crore (India net) on the opening day. The film's budget is Rs. 35 crore, and as per the trade experts, Dragon has the potential to earn 2-3x of its budget. The film was released opposite South superstar, Dhanush's film, Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. While Dragon earned Rs. 6 crores, NEEK collected only Rs. 1.15 crore on opening day, but the weekend will undoubtedly present a clearer picture of this clash at the box office.

The hit film, Dragon is written and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The film has a stellar star cast featuring Pradeep Ranganathan, Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, George Maryan, K.S. Ravikumar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and many more. The film is edited by famous film editor, Pradeep E. Ragav and is produced by AGS Entertainment, a production house owned by the Kalpathi brothers, S. Aghoram and S. Ganesh.

Ashwath Marimuthu's film, Dragon's lead actor, Pradeep Ranganathan, who played the character, 'Dhanapal Ragavan' alias "Dragon" in the film, is trending all over the social media. The 31-year-old actor is receiving much love for his exceptional acting performance in the film. While some have labelled him as a "show-stealer", many call him the next big Tamil film industry star.

Despite coming from a non-film family, the way Pradeep Ranganathan has emerged as one of the promising stars of South Indian cinema is quite impressive. However, not everyone knows that besides being a skilled actor, Pradeep is also a filmmaker and writer. Pradeep made his directorial debut with the film, Comali in 2019 and won the SIIMA Awards for Best Debutant Director.

The iconic film was remade in Bollywood by Advait Chauhan and is titled Loveyapa, featuring Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan and Boney Kapoor's daughter, Khushi Kapoor. 

Dragon actor, Pradeep Ranganathan revealed how many heroines rejected the offer of playing lead opposite him in Love Today

Once, in an old interview with Tupaki.com, Pradeep Ranganathan revealed that even after the success of his directorial debut, Comali, he faced a lot of rejections in the industry. The actor shared that when he approached some renowned actresses to play the main lead opposite him in Love Today, all of them rejected his offer.

Some heroines told Pradeep Ranganathan that they prefer to work opposite big heroes, while some denied him indirectly, citing issues with the script. However, after the ground-breaking success of Love Today, things changed for Pradeep overnight. Courtesy of Love Today's success, Pradeep managed to sign Anupama Parameswaran and Kayadu Lohar in Dragon. He said:

"At the time, I had no on-screen image. When I drew closer to actresses for the film, some rejected me immediately, whereas others politely declined. Many indeed told me they would, as it were, work with set-up star heroes."

Amidst the success of Pradeep Ranganathan's third film, Dragon as an actor, there are rumours in the gossip columns that he is reportedly dating Kayadu Lohar. The audience is in love with Pradeep and Kayadu's chemistry in Dragon, which is the prime reason behind their dating rumours. Some unidentified sources speculate that they fell in love during the filming of Dragon. However, there is no proof supporting Pradeep and Kayadu's dating rumours at the moment. Thus, it is better not to speculate on such things until and unless the two actors give us some hints.
