Drishyam 3 Producer, Mangat Calls Jaideep Ahlawat A Better Actor Than Akshaye Khanna, 'It Doesn't..'

Drishyam, the Hindi crime thriller, is all set to make a grand comeback with its third part after the two box office hits. Drishyam 3 is a highly anticipated film starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Sharan, Ishita Dutta and more. While Drishyam saw a cat-and-mouse game between Ajay and Tabu, Drishyam 2 included the hunt between Ajay and Akshaye Khanna. However, in a recent interview, Drishyam producer, Mangat Pathak confirmed that Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced the Dhurandhar star.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Drishyam producer, Mangat Pathak has addressed the buzz surrounding Akshaye Khanna’s exit from Drishyam 3. According to a source, the Dhurandhar star demanded to wear a wig, and his sudden hike in remuneration didn’t sit well with the makers. 

Now, Mangat confirmed that he has been replaced by The Family Man 3 actor, Jaideep Ahlawat. He also called Jaideep a better person and actor than Akshaye Khanna. For the unversed, Akshaye is currently rising high in success due to his role in the spy-action thriller, Dhurandhar. Mangat mentioned that he had produced one of Jaideep’s first films of his career, Aakrosh. He was quoted as saying:

"Drishyam is a very big brand. It doesn’t matter whether he is in the film or not. Now, Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced him. By the grace of God, we have got a better actor than Akshaye, and most importantly, we have got a better person than Akshaye as well. I had produced one of the first films of Jaideep's career, Aakrosh."

For the uninitiated, Akshaye Khanna previously played the role of an investigating officer, IG 'Tarun Ahlawat' in Drishyam 2. According to the latest reports, Akshaye was supposed to reprise the role of IG 'Tarun Ahlawat' in Drishyam 3 as well. However, his exit and unexpected demands didn’t go well with the makers. Talking about the same, Drishyam producer, Mangat, said: 

"I have suffered losses because of Akshaye Khanna’s behaviour. I am going to take legal action. I have already sent him a legal notice; he’s yet to reply to it."

For those unaware, Akshaye Khanna portrayed the role of IG 'Tarun Ahlawat' and had his usual bald look in Drishyam 2. However, due to creative differences, Akshaye stepped down from the upcoming film, Drishyam 3. According to an insider, the Dhurandhar star demanded to wear a wig for Drishyam 3. However, this demand didn’t sit well with the makers, probably because he was without a wig in Drishyam 2.

Along with the creative difference point, another major reason behind Akshaye Khanna’s exit from Drishyam 3 has come to light. Akshaye has reportedly made a sudden hike in his remuneration after the success of his film, Chhava and Dhurandhar. According to the source, the Dhurandhar star demanded Rs. 21 crore from the makers of Drishyam 3. They were taken aback by Akshaye's sudden salary hike. While the makers tried to resolve the matter, Akshaye considered his demand to be justifiable. According to the source:

"Akshaye decided to revise his fees. Accordingly, he asked for Rs. 21 crore from the makers of Drishyam 3. The makers of Drishyam 3 were taken aback. They tried to reason with him that if he's paid a bomb, the film would go over-budget. But Akshaye Khanna felt that he was justified in his demand. He knew that his presence now significantly enhanced the excitement for a film."
