Dancing with the Stars is an American reality dance competition TV Series that premiered on ABC on June 1, 2005. The show is the American version of the British contest program Strictly Come Dancing, and is part of its international franchise. And now, as the show marks its 20th anniversary, it's Robert Irwin who has received a special gift!
Dancing with the Stars is celebrating its 20th anniversary during DWTS Season 34's quarterfinals, which saw it bring back several familiar faces to longtime fans, including former competitors in the audience. The episode saw the return of Mirrorball champs for competition rounds, the original pro dancers for an opening number, and even former host, Tom Bergeron, as a guest judge. However, that is not all; there was a massive surprise for one of the contestants that left the audience in awe.

The 20th anniversary celebration quickly became emotional and teary-eyed as it brought a very unexpected face to the ballroom for the very first time. The moment came as Robert Irwin and Witney Carson prepared to dance their Foxtrot to the same song his sister, Bindi Irwin, used in her winning freestyle routine in Season 21, which was dedicated to their late father, Steve Irwin. For the unversed, Foxtrot is a smooth, ballroom dance characterised by flowing movements.

It was during the rehearsal footage package that we saw Robert casually mention he would have been in Brazil if he'd been cut from the competition, to be with Prince William as he hands out the Earthshot Prize. However, little did he know that his wishes were about to be granted. The 21-year-old dancer and his partner, Witney Carson, then received a surprise they will probably remember for a lifetime. The duo received a video call from the 43-year-old future King of England. Robert looked visibly surprised when he saw Prince William and stated:
"Oh my goodness!! How are you?"

Things got even more interesting when Robert Irwin asked how things were in Rio de Janeiro, the Prince got back to him with a cheeky exchange. The Prince referred to him as "twinkle toes" as he responded to the dancer. Prince William was quoted as saying:

"Going really well. The finalists this year are really gonna go on and save the world, we're missing you Robert. Whilst your twinkle toes are going off elsewhere, I need you down here!"
The moment became one to remember not just for Robert Irwin but also for the fans of Dancing with the Stars. However, before ending the call, Prince William made a request to Witney Carson. Before sharing that he felt the pair had what it took to take home the Mirrorball. The prince's appearance stunned many who were tuning in, who took to social media to express their shock. Prince even asked Whitney to get Robert in as much glitter as she possibly could and even wished them the best for the show. He was quoted as saying:
"Witney, you need to get him in as much glitter as you can. Guys, you've got a seriously good chance of winning this, so just the best of luck on the show."

What are your thoughts on Robert Irwin's special surprise from Prince William?
