'DWTS', Whitney Leavitt's Controversies, Lavender Marriage Rumours, TikTok Dance Next To Sick Infant

Each week after Dancing with the Stars airs, another entertaining show unfolds on social media. It's between the fandoms of the various contestants participating on the show. As the semi-finals and finals inch closer, these fandom wars have also been getting more and more intense. However, amid these spats between fans, DWTS contestant Whitney Leavitt has been getting the brunt of the trolling from all sides. One reason is her many controversies. Here's a look at all of them.

Whitney Leavitt is still trolled for her TikTok dance in hospital next to her sick newborn baby

Whitney Leavitt had appeared on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives before joining DWTS. However, before becoming a reality show star, she had received a lot of negative attention after her TikTok video went viral in 2021. As a mom content creator, Whitney shared news of her newborn son's breathing issues in a TikTok video. However, the backlash she received stemmed from the way she chose to convey the news.

While revealing that her infant son, Liam, was suffering from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and pneumonia, she danced around him in the hospital. As Kendrick Lamar's song, Love played in the video, Whitney hit TikTok dances while explaining her baby's critical condition. The delicate information and the dance made for very bizarre visuals. Although Whitney deleted the video and later posted another TikTok where she was crying while addressing the backlash, the post is still being trolled to this day.

Whitney Leavitt and her husband, Conner, faced cheating and lavender marriage rumours

Whitney Leavitt and her husband, Conner, have one of the most complicated marriages on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. However, the two have been working on it with counselling and have given their best. In the show, Conner revealed his trauma stemming from a violent incident in his childhood that impacted his current life, too. Conner's addiction to adult content also arose as an issue in his marriage to Whitney. In the series, after cheating speculations, he opened up about the fact that, in need of validation, he had created a profile on a dating app. After laying his issues bare, Whitney and Conner were seen trying to salvage their marriage.

Amid these, lavender marriage rumours have also followed the couple. For the unversed, lavender marriage is a term used for when a queer man and woman get married to each other to save themselves from the social stigma. The speculations of Whitney and Conner having such a marriage became so widespread that the couple addressed it. She posted a TikTok where she danced with Conner, and he kissed her. Whitney wrote in the video that it proved they didn't have a lavender marriage. Additionally, in an interview with People, she shared:

“I feel like the only time that it really hurt is when the other women in the group would make videos scrutinizing it. I thought it was very inappropriate and incredibly unprofessional, and it was just for them to get views and clout, and great, you got that, your five minutes of fame on that. But again, I think if you were just to follow Conner and I around all day, we know what's true. We're like the life of the party. We're so fun. So, it just doesn't bother us.”

Whitney Leavitt faces backlash for being overqualified for Dancing with the Stars

Whitney Leavitt has been a frontrunner when it comes to her scores in Dancing with the Stars Season 34. Her performances with pro-partner, Mark Ballas have received immense praise from the judges. However, it is actually her great dancing that has drawn backlash from viewers. As they see it, DWTS is all about celebrities from all industries participating and learning dance from the pros. But seeing Whitney, it is very clear that she already has the dancing chops.

Whitney was already a competitive dancer with years of training under her belt. Moreover, she has a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with dance as her main focus. Even before joining DWTS, Whitney Leavitt was very well-versed in various forms such as jazz, hip-hop, tap, and more. As a result, many DWTS fans believe that having a trained dancer as a contestant among non-dancer celebrities isn't fair.
