'Ek Chatur Naar' Review, Divya Khosla's Film Is A Blackmail Game Filled With Revenge

Ek Chatur Naar, the black comedy directed by Ashutosh Upadhyay, was released in theatres on September 12, 2025. Now, it has also made its way to the OTT giant platform, Netflix. For the unversed, the Divya Khosla and Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer was released on Netflix on November 7, 2025. Alongside Divya Khosla and Neil Nitin Mukesh, the film also stars Chhaya Kadam, Zakir Hussain, and Sushant Singh. Divya Khosla as 'Mamta' is the heart of the film, whose struggling life becomes chaotic after she encounters 'Abhishek Verma' (played by Neil Nitin Mukesh).

Plotline of Ek Chatur Naar

The story of Ek Chatur Naar centers on 'Mamta', a widowed single mother who struggles hard to raise her son in Lucknow. She is struggling with debt while raising her son, 'Sonu', in Lucknow. Her condition is nothing short of a hand-to-mouth situation, as she is saddled with a Rs. 20 lakh loan. During the day, 'Mamta' works at the Lucknow Metro, and at night, she uses her clever mind to escape from the struggling life.

She also handles her eccentric mother-in-law (played by Chhaya Kadam), who thinks liquor is the only medicine and watches the TV show, Naagin, with a lot of devotion. 'Mamta', whose life seems ordinary, changes drastically when she catches hold of 'Abhishek Verma's' phone. For the uninitiated, 'Abhishek' is a corrupt employee who is having an affair with his colleague 'Tina' (played by Heli Daruwala) and has links to a crooked 'Home Minister Qureishi' (Zakir Hussain). Soon, 'Mamta' starts her blackmailing game. She makes a ransom call to 'Abhishek' and demands Rs. 2 crore.

Divya Khosla as 'Mamta' becomes the highlight of the revenge drama, Ek Chatur Naar. Her bravery and clever mind make her stronger. She doesn’t consider herself a helpless or sad woman; she focuses only on ways to escape her problems. She works tirelessly watching the crowd at the Lucknow Metro during the day, but at night, she plans to beat a competitive world that keeps trying to trap her. The turning point in her life comes when a woman from her group wearing a burqa steals a businessman’s phone.

The businessman was none other than 'Abhishek'. The theft isn’t random, but is pre-planned by 'Mamta' with the help of others. She gifts 'Abhishek's' phone to her son as a birthday present. But when she goes through the phone, she discovers some shocking secrets. There was a private video involving 'Abhishek' and 'Tina', and there is also evidence of a big scam involving 'Abhishek' and 'Home Minister Qureishi'.

This discovery becomes a trump card for 'Mamta'. She uses his opportunity to change her future. Neil Nitin Mukesh as 'Abhishek Verma' has brought the evil character to life. He has balanced well between confidence and fear, power and weakness. In fact, when 'Mamta' tries to outsmart, the transition in his character is just fascinating to watch.

Final Verdict: Is the film worth watching?

Although Divya Khosla tried her best to deliver a standout performance, but the audience might sometimes find her emotions exaggerated. But keeping the mind on the gripping storyline and cat-and-mouse game involving Divya and Neil, the movie definitely deserves a one-time watch.
