While it had several leaps and a storyline which was hard to believe, still, it was the ultimate source of entertainment for housewives, working women, dadis and nanis, who all related to 'Tulsi Virani' played by Smriti Irani's lifelong struggles. It was the longest-run series that got the highest TRPs for eight years. After buzz was rife that Ekta Kapoor was going to make a second season with the same leads. "That didn't happen because of persona or personality or anything else. Astrologer baitha tha ek Ektaa Kapoor ke office mein toh panditji ne kaha yeh joh ladki abhi ghum rahi hai wahan pe, isko rokiye, yeh kaun hai. The astrologer’s name was Janardhan, and he said I would become a big star, I had gone there to sign a contract where I was going to play the role of someone’s sister. I didn’t know Ektaa was sitting behind a curtain with the pandit."
However, Ekta Kapoor denied the story entirely. Taking to her Instagram stories, Ekta called Smriti's story false. She clarified that Monisha took her audition and they all saw it and selected her in one go. She wrote:
“NOT TRUE!!!! MONISHA. GOT UR. AUDITION. WE SAW. CHOSE IN ONE SECOND!!!”
