Ekta Kapoor is the Queen of television, who has been ruling the industry with her iconic shows. The diva is known to have launched many talents in the industry through her shows. Apart from her professionalism, Ekta is known for calling a spade a spade and for never mincing her words. She recently called out the makers of an upcoming show for reusing the title of one of her cult shows.
A new show with the name, Pavitra Rishta is all set to go on air on Zee TV. But it seems like Ekta wasn’t too pleased with the title. For the unversed, Ekta Kapoor made the cult show titled Pavitra Rishta in 2009, which starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande in the titular roles. The show ran for five years and enjoyed a huge fan base.

And now, Siddharttha Vankar’s upcoming television show, a love story produced by Aman Sachdeva, will also be titled Pavitra Rishta. The reuse of the same title didn’t sit well with Ekta, who called out the makers. Taking to her Instagram Story, Ekta called the reuse of the title as 'intellectual bankruptcy' and wrote:
“When u can't create an IP u feed on an established one of another creator! Terrible ethics or intellectual bankruptcy!!! Or both!!! Nothing Pavitra about it!!!”

The latest Pavitra Rishta will feature Abrar Qazi and Priyanshi Yadav in the lead. The love story will also feature Pallav Pradhan and Roopa Divetia in key roles. According to multiple reports, the show will begin shooting in January 2026 and be released in February 2026. Abrar, who will play the titular character, got his big break in 2018 with the film, Laila Majnu.

He then ventured into television and appeared in shows such as Gathbandhan, Yeh Hai Chahtein, Ravivaar With Star Parivaar, Kumkum Bhagya, and Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad. In an interview with The Times of India, Abrar revealed the reason behind switching to TV and said:

“Laila Majnu did not help my career at the time, but after it was re-released last year, people appreciated my work. I have been getting good film offers for the past year, but whenever you audition for films or web projects, it becomes a matter of patience. You have to wait until you get shortlisted, and even after months of waiting to be finalised, sometimes things still don’t work out. TV is a mass medium and it is lucrative.”
