However, this time Musk is making headlines not for his business but for his ties to India.

Elon Musk revealed his partner is half Indian

Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, recently sat for a conversation with Nikhil Kamath on his WTS is? Podcast. The promo for the same was released on November 29, 2025, and viewers had been eagerly waiting for the drop. Now that the interview has finally been released, it's Musk's statement about his links with India that has caught our attention. During the conversation, the businessman shared that his partner, Shivon Zilis, is half-Indian.

The podcast was released by Nikhil on November 30, 2025, and several snippets from the conversation have gone viral. Speaking to the Zerodha founder, Nikhil Kamath, Elon Musk disclosed that his partner is Indian. Nikhil expressed surprise upon hearing the news, as he wasn't aware of it. He was quoted as saying:

"I'm not sure if you know this, but my partner Shivon is half Indian."

Elon Musk's son's middle name was kept in honour of Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar

In the same conversation, Elon Musk also revealed that one of their sons has the middle name Sekhar, in honour of Nobel laureate and Indian-American physicist, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. Discussing his partner Shivon Zili's ancestry, Musk shared that she grew up in Canada and was given up for adoption as a baby. He shared that her father was an exchange student. However, he is not aware of the exact details. Musk was quoted as saying:

"She grew up in Canada. She was given up for adoption when she was a baby. I think her father was like an exchange student at the university or something like that. I'm not sure the exact details, but you know it was kind of thing where I don't know, she was given up for adoption. But she grew up in Canada."

Elon Musk further revealed during the conversation that one of their sons bears the middle name "Sekhar," in honour of S. Chandrasekhar. Appearing on the podcast, Musk also remarked that America has greatly benefited from the talents born in India. However, it seems to be changing now. His remarks come at a moment when the American dream is fading for thousands of Indians amid tougher US visa curbs and increasing policy uncertainty

"America has been an immense beneficiary of talent from India, but that seems to be changing now."
