Elvish Yadav Reacts To Backlash Over 'Racist' Remarks On Chum Darang: 'Log Bewakoof Hai...'

YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner, Elvish Yadav is once again in the eye of a storm after a controversial remark about Bigg Boss 18 contestant, Chum Darang. A clip from his podcast, where he seemingly mocked Chum, has recently gone viral and sparked massive backlash. However, Yadav has now hit back at the criticism, claiming his words were misinterpreted and insisting he has nothing to apologise for.

Elvish Yadav made a racist comment about Chum Darang

A clip from Elvish’s podcast with Bigg Boss 18 contestant, Rajat Dalal set social media to storm. In the video, Elvish was heard making a controversial statement about Chum, and the fact that Karanveer Mehra developed a liking for her. He was quoted as saying:

"Karanveer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai? Itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai."

This statement did not sit well with netizens. It did not take them long to slam the YouTuber and allege him for making racist and sexist comments. Responding to the backlash, Elvish took to his vlog to clear the air. He admitted that he had removed the segment from his podcast but dismissed claims that his remarks were racist. He slammed the critics and said:

“Toh maine khol ke dekha maine kahi kya racist remarks pass kare hain? Maine Chum ke upar kuch bol rakha tha. Waise maine kaha maine bola ya nahi, hatao, mujhe negativity chahiye hi nahi. Agar maan lo kisiko kharab lag raha hai mere bolne se, toh bhai, wo part maine remove kar diya. Second thing, kitne bewakoof log hain jinko ye samajh mein nahi aa raha. Wo log bol raha hai Elvish ne covid bol diya, so Elvish is relating Chinese with Chum. Usmein maine bola tha, Karan Veer ko shayad covid ho rakha tha jo uski taste, smell chali gayi, jo usko Chum pasand aa gayi. Main itna gaya guzra nahi hu ki kisi ko bolu ki tu ye hai, wo hai. Main in cheezon se bachta hu. Na mujhe kisise lena dena ki main kisi pe racist comment pass karu.”

Rajat Dalal responds to critics

Meanwhile, Rajat Dalal also responded to the controversy. He took to his Instagram handle and addressed the backlash by claiming that they had to follow a script that they were given. He was heard saying:

“Jo tumne chizein dekhi hai roast wali wo scripted tha. Wo hum dono ko script mili thi, ki ye chizein bolni hai taaki hype bane, unmein se kuch kuch chizein use karenge taaki hype bane. Humein nahi pata tha ki wo chizein daal hi denge. Wo harosa karke kahi thi unhone toda uska unhone toda wo main uska kuch nahi kar sakta. Elvish ne bhi koi chiz apne man se nahi boli, uske jo in-ear aata hai uspe. To bas face humare the, shabd humare nahi the.”
