Kangana Ranaut's much-awaited film, Emergency was released on January 17, 2025, and has received mixed reviews so far. The film registered a modest opening of just Rs. 2.35 crore, but it is still the biggest opening of Kangana's career in the last five years (post-pandemic). The film is based on the 21 months of Emergency from 1975 to 1977, which was pulled into action by the then-Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
The film featured a series of notable actors who portrayed several famous personalities in Indian history who broke into headlines for multiple reasons. From Anupam Kher playing Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw to Satish Kaushik as Jagjivan Ram and Mahima Chaudhary as Pupul Jayakar, all the actors looked brilliant in their respective roles.
However, there is one young actor named Vishak Nair, who has overshadowed everyone in the film, including Kangana Ranaut as Indira Gandhi in many people's eyes. For the uninitiated, Vishak Nair played the character of Indira Gandhi's son, Sanjay Gandhi, in Emergency. The actor looked like a carbon copy of the late politician and shocked everyone with how he replicated Sanjay Gandhi's vocal texture and body language.
Several film critics and netizens are lauding the actor for his exceptional portrayal of Sanjay Gandhi, hands-down one of the most layered characters in the film. Not everyone is aware of the fact that Emergency actor, Vishak made his acting debut in Bollywood with the 2022 film, Shabaash Mithu, in which he played a character named, 'Chandan'. After his impressive work in Shabaash Mithu, Vishak was seen in Tejas, where his character's name was 'Prashant'.
Before discussing his professional career, it is important to tell everyone that Vishak Nair has a strong educational background. For the unversed, he completed his schooling at Delhi Private School and holds a mechanical engineering degree from the prestigious National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK). After completing engineering, Vishak worked at Daimler India Commercial Vehicles. However, due to his immense interest in cinema and filmmaking, he left the job and joined The Little Theatre Chennai to pursue acting.
