Emraan Hashmi, a popular actor in the Bollywood film industry, is widely known as the 'serial kisser'. Although Emraan didn’t like the tag, it was for the bold scenes that he enacted in the films like Aashiq Banaya Apne, Murder, and Murder 2. However, after many years, Emraan got a chance to break this image in the industry with Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Although the role brought him back into the spotlight among his Gen Z fans, Emraan’s son is upset about his cameo.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Emraan Hashmi was asked about his son’s reaction to his cameo in Netflix’s series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Emraan shared that his son was quite embarrassed about it. For the unversed, Emraan played a funny and exaggerated version of himself as an intimacy coordinator in the series. The Aashiq Banaya Apne actor was quoted as saying:
"Okay, I don't know if I should say this on camera, but he's… he's really embarrassed about it. In school, you have these societies where you teach stuff or do your own bit. So all his friends are saying now, Why don’t you become an intimacy coach? I shouldn’t be saying this. So he’s like, 'you have ruined things for me in school, and this is the running joke'. He also says, 'every day I come to school, this is what I have to face… so would you just stop.'"

During a recent press conference for his upcoming film, Haq, Emraan opened up about how the viral scene from Aryan Khan’s directorial debut helped him in changing his pre-established 'serial kisser' image. The Murder 2 actor shared that earlier, people used to address him by his name or by the tag, but now it is the viral scenes and dialogues that are the forefront. The actor seemed to be pleased with the change. In his words:
"I think iske pehle fans jo hain, woh naam leke pukarte the, ya phir… ek doosra image tha, 'S' se shuru hota hai. Main naam nahi loonga, nahi toh raat bhar yahi chalta rahega. Abhi woh dialogue ka zikr hota hai – so no complaints."

Earlier this year, on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Emraan Hashmi, who is widely known as Bollywood’s 'serial kisser,' opened up about how that label once bothered him. He shared that during 2003–2012, his romantic image was overused for marketing, even if it didn’t fit the film’s script. He mentioned that the directors would add kissing scenes just for him, and the media also made sure the 'serial kisser' tag appeared before his name everywhere.

The Aashiq Banaya Apne star explained that, after gaining popularity, he wanted the audience to see him as a serious actor who could play diverse roles. But it wasn’t easy for him to break that image, as fans still expected him to play similar romantic roles. He was quoted as saying:
