The woman who worked for him from 2019 to 2024 alleged that Swalwell assaulted her sexually as she was too drunk to give consent.

CNN also reported that an ex-staffer and three additional women accused Swalwell of making sexual advances and sending explicit photos and messages. However, Swalwell reacted to the accusations levied on him and called them ‘baseless’. Reacting to the rumours he shared:

“These allegations are false and come on the eve of an election against the front-runner for governor. For nearly 20 years, I have served the public — as a prosecutor and a congressman and have always protected women. My focus in the coming days is to be with my wife and children and defend our decades of service against these lies.”

For the unversed, Eric Swalwell is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative since 2023. Raised in Dublin, California, Swalwell worked as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County.  He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012. He was a candidate in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries. He is currently a candidate for governor of California in 2026.
