Born in 1948 to a Tamil-speaking Iyengar family, Hema Malini’s contribution to the Hindi and Telugu film industry is remarkable. Hema ji defines the term ‘Dream Girl’ as she, in truest sense symbolises poise, grace and ethereal charm. Blessed with two loving daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, two doting sons-in-law, Bharat Takhtani and Vaibhav Vohra and three adorable grandchildren, Darien Vohra, Radhya Takhtani and Miraya Takhtani.
There is something about the black-and-white pictures that we all have a special place in our hearts for and Esha Deol is no different. A while back, Esha posted a throwback picture with her grandmother, Jaya Lakshmi Chakravarti and mother, Hema Malini in one frame. Esha Deol loves sharing fun-filled pictures of the three generation of ladies’ chill-sessions and we can’t help but swoon over their pictures! One such picture which had caught our fancy had showcased how much baby Radhya Takhtani loves her nani, Hema Malini. The picture had an all-decked up Hema ji looking lovingly at her granddaughter while Radhya wanted to climb onto her arms! Sharing the picture last year, Esha had written, “My mother recently launched her latest dance ballet #ganga ...it was during the photoshoot that Radhya decided to run to her Nani for some love, not realising that #nanima is in Ganga- mode !!! On Mother’s Day 2020, Hema Malini had posted an unseen monochromatic picture with her mother, Jaya Lakshmi Chakravarti. Sporting a traditional Bharatanatyam attire, Hema Malini can be seen affectionately hugging her mother and had captioned the picture as “It is Mother’s Day! A day for us to recall with love & gratitude all that our mothers have done for us. Also a day for us to celebrate our status as mothers & grandmothers & look back proudly at the years passed in bringing our kids. This is a treasured file photo of me & my mom.” Posting a picture with her mother Jaya ji and daughter, Ahana Deol, Hema ji had written, “Happy mother's Day.”
In an interview with Mail Today, Esha Deol had spoken about how involved grandparents should be the lives of children. Recalling her memories with her grandmother, Jaya Lakshmi Chakravarti, Esha had remarked, “Grandparents give a certain level of grounding for kids. My grandmother would teach me Hindi and painting. We spent a lot of time together, and I really miss her. Besides our partner, the other people we can completely trust our parents or in-laws. They can take care of our kids as much and even more than we can, if we are not available. Their relationship is so beautiful. I love the relationship between my mother and my daughters.”
On May 19, 2020, Esha Deol had posted her vidaai video and it had given us a glimpse of the inconsolable Deol family. The video had perfectly captured the emotional moment of the family, the dewy-eyed bride and her sister and the teary-eyed parents. Esha had said in the video, “I’m someone who doesn’t cry so easily. I don’t remember the last time I probably cried. When I see that vidaai video, I cry, even today I cry.
