Esha Gupta Recalls Her Fight With Sajid Khan On 'Humshakals' Set, 'Unhone Mujhe Gaali Di, Phir..'

Esha Gupta is a popular actress in Bollywood who is known for her work in films like Jannat 2, Baadshaho, Rustom and Commando 2. Known for her bold presence and outspoken nature in the film industry, Esha is among the few actresses who have never shied away from speaking the truth. Once again, the diva has proved it as she recently broke her silence on the long-standing rumours of her fallout with filmmaker, Sajid Khan during the shooting of their 2014 film, Humshakals.

Esha Gupta reveals Sajid Khan 'abused' her

Esha Gupta sat down for an interview with Siddharth Kannan, wherein she opened up about her experience of working with Sajid Khan and the truth about the rumours of their fallout. She shared that working in the filmmaker's 2014 film, Humshakals was a great opportunity for her until things took a dark turn and they had a heated argument. The actress admitted that their bond had become strained after she had a verbal conflict with Sajid, which made her feel disrespected and hurt. Recalling the incident, Esha said:

"I had a fight. Sajid Khan and I were not at all on the same page, and we ended up having a proper fight. It happened once, and after that, things were never the same. See, I don't like people abusing me. You should always treat people the way you want them to treat you. It's that simple. Unhone mujhe gaali di… phir maine bhi di."

Esha explained that she strongly believes in mutual respect and doesn't tolerate any abusive behaviour. When asked about the reason behind the fallout, the Rustom actress didn't exactly quote any incident. But, she hinted that the director may have been frustrated at that time, which led him to speak to her without thinking. However, that chapter is now closed for Esha, and she doesn't want to talk about it in future. She said:

"Kuch log baat karne se pehle sochte nahi hai… frustrated hote hai. I don't want to talk about that because I've moved on from it."

In the same conversation, Esha Gupta shared that after a heated exchange with Sajid Khan she decided to walk off from the set of Humshakals and eventually leave the film. But, the film's producer came to her with an apology and a request to rejoin the film's cast. Consequently, she decided to continue working on it, but the sour bond between her and Sajid continued till the end. Later, Sajid was accused of se***l harassment under #metoo allegations by several actresses, and Esha's name also appeared in the complainant. Clearing the air about it, the actress stated:

"I've never said anything in relation to MeToo about Sajid. In fact, when those allegations started coming out, someone even added my name to the list of people who accused him. I said, 'No.' Dekhiye, jahan jisne jo galti ki hai woh bolo. Like I'm openly saying now that he abused me. But Sajid never tried any of those things with me."

Humshakals was a comedy film produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by Sajid Khan. It featured an ensemble cast including Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, Esha Gupta and Bipasha Basu, among others. The three male leads in the film portrayed three different characters, and the film was shot across various foreign locations. The film was made on a high budget and had a big opening, but soon, it declined, and makers couldn't even recover the production cost. Even in her interview, Esha admitted that after the first screening of the film itself, everyone knew that it wouldn't work.
