Deepinder Goyal made a shocking announcement on February 6, 2025, when he announced that Zomato would no longer be the holding company of his other businesses. The billionaire businessman shockingly revealed that he had chosen the name Eternal to replace Zomato as his parent company. As soon as the announcement became public, many people confused it with Zomato being changed to Eternal as a brand and app. Several netizens shared on social media that they're unhappy that Deepinder changed Zomato's name to Eternal.
Well, it is not true, and so many people are still confused, so let us put it into simple words for them. For the uninitiated, Eternal Limited will be the parent company under which we will have four big brands, including Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District. Previously, Zomato Limited was the parent entity under which Blinkit, Hyperpure and District served. However, now that Blinkit has become such a huge brand, Deepinder Goyal thought that it was the right moment to bring a new name as the parent entity.
In his announcement letter, Deepinder Goyal revealed that changing Zomato Limited to Eternal Limited has been on his mind for a long time. The entrepreneur said, "We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future." After Blinkit's huge success, Deepinder feels that it is the right moment to bring Eternal Limited into existence so that people can distinguish between Zomato and Blinkit. The company's corporate website and stock ticker will be updated from Zomato Limited to Eternal Limited.
Amidst all the buzz around Zomato Limited being changed to Eternal Limited, Deepinder Goyal's old statement, in which he shared a tale related to the launch of his food delivery business, is making rounds on the internet. Back in March 2024, Deepinder gave an inspiring speech at the Vishesh Sampark event in which he shared what his father told him when he founded Zomato 16 years ago in 2008. The billionaire businessman shared that his father gave him a strong reality check, but he continued to believe in his vision. He said:
"When I started Zomato in 2008, my father used to say "Tu janta hai tera baap kaun hai" as my dad thought I could never do a start-up given our humble background. This government and their initiatives enabled a small-town boy like me to build something like Zomato, which employs lakhs of people today!"
In a span of just 16 years, Deepinder Goyal has managed to take Zomato to a level where it is now operating internationally in countries like the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and many more. According to a report in GQ India, Deepinder Goyal has an estimated net worth of over Rs. 15,300 crore.
