Fans Request Jhulan Goswami's Shelved Film, 'Chakda Express' Release After India's World Cup Win

Former Indian cricketer, Jhulan Goswami was left in disbelief after the Indian team fulfilled her long-awaited dream of lifting the ICC Women's World Cup trophy by defeating South Africa in the final held in Navi Mumbai. It was a beautiful moment as Jhulan, who captained the Indian team from 2008 to 2011, was finally able to see the trophy that she hadn't been able to in her two-decade career.

Fans urged for Jhulan Goswami's biopic, Chakda Xpress

As videos and pictures of Jhulan Goswami with the Women's cricket team surfaced, fans were left emotional. They took to social media and expressed their wish for the release of her biopic, Chakda Xpress. The film stars Anushka Sharma as 'Jhulan Goswami', and its production work was wrapped up in 2023, but the makers have not released it as promised.

Soon, fans took to X, and started tagging Anushka Sharma, Netflix India and Clean Slate Films and urged them to release the biopic, calling it a 'perfect time'. One user wrote, "Arre someone tell Jay Shah ki Jhulan Goswami NF film Chakda Express ko release karwaye. This is the perfect time and it's a very good film. Easily Anushka's best." Another commented, "Hey @NetflixIndia @AnushkaSharma @CleanSlateFilms, your move now! Come on, get the film out. It’s a gem that deserves to be seen by one and all!"

A third user penned, "Jhulan Goswami broke down in tears last night as the Indian women’s team lifted the World Cup. A tall, middle-class girl from Chakdaha, Bengal, she grew to become one of the fastest and greatest bowlers the sport has ever seen. With 255 ODI wickets, a world record, she stands so far ahead that the second-highest isn’t even at 200. She carried the flag for women’s cricket in an era when not many were watching. A biopic on her life, starring Anushka Sharma, finished shooting in 2022 but never saw the light of day. It was not released after widespread outrage following the teaser, as viewers felt Anushka Sharma neither looked nor sounded anything like Jhulan."
