Choreographer and filmmaker, Farah Khan never minces her words and is hailed for calling a spade a spade. The mum of three recently recalled how people constantly pulled her down for being a woman and not being in a certain way. She shared a commercial of Pepsi, featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, in which the actress talks about defying societal norms.
Posting the advertisement on her social media handle, Farah recalled how people judged her for being a choreographer in Bollywood, dressing in a certain manner and getting married late. Slamming all those people, who tried to pull her down, Farah wrote:
“As I am watching this film, I can’t help but remember how many times I have been subjected to commentary that tried to bring me down in my journey as not only a successful choreographer and director but also as a woman..‘You don’t dress like a Choreographer. You’re too young to be in this field. Women can’t make action films. You’re too old to get married. Too old to have kids.” Guess what? Here I am and I DID IT. I chose not to give into what society had to say about me but put in the hard work to #RiseUpBaby! Love this narrative by @pepsiindia and @samantharuthprabhuoffl.”

Farah got married to filmmaker, Shirish Kunder in 2004 and embraced motherhood via IVF. The director is a mother to three adorable kids, Diva, Anya and Czar. Farah is 8 years older than Shirish, and the filmmaker is often targeted for her age difference from her husband.

When Farah graced Malaika Arora’s show, Moving In With Malaika, she talked about dealing with hate and taunts for marrying her husband, Shirish Kunder. The filmmaker opened up about how she received demeaning comments from her close ones over the age difference between her and Shirish. She also recalled how one of her friends taunted her for marrying a younger man and said that he would attend her second marriage.
Talking about Farah Khan’s professional journey, it was after ace choreographer, Saroj Khan walked out of the film, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, that Farah took over the role. She has won the Filmfare Best Choreography Award six times. She made her Bollywood debut as a director with the film, Main Hoon Na in 2004. She also directed films like Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Happy New Year.
