Fardeen Khan mesmerised everyone with his impeccable comeback in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The actor made his way back to the celluloid after more than 14 years, and according to him, it felt like starting afresh as a newcomer. While lots of appreciation and credits has been coming his way for his performance as ‘Wali Mohammad’ in the show, the actor recently walked down the memory lane and recalled key moments from his childhood.
In a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Fardeen Khan looked back on his childhood and revealed how realistically he was brought up, despite being the son of a filmmaker and producer. He revealed how his father, Feroz Khan took loans for films, from his personal finances, that ended up making an impact on the family’s expenses as a whole. Expressing how he witnessed tough times owing to financial crunch, Fardeen said:

“My father turned producer with his first film, Apradh, which released in 1972. In those days, you were personally financially responsible. Producers were taking loans to make their own movies on high interest rates, and it was scary for everyone. Yes, we have seen days that have been difficult. My upbringing was very real. In fact, we were shielded as much as possible from the industry… not made to feel entitled at all about having a parent who was famous.”

Speaking along the same lines, Fardeen revealed that due to the frequent financial crisis that their family had to face, both his parents ended up working a lot. While his father was an already established actor, his mother too, was a reputed air hostess for Air India. Crediting them to be utterly self-made all their lives, Fardeen added how his parents never let him feel the pressures of insufficient funds. In his words:
“We were left to our own, we had to manage. Both my parents were working, both self-made. My mother too, she was with Air India for about 9 years. She was a flight attendant. She has also worked, she supported her family. My father is self-made. They know the value of things. They know how hard it was to get things done. It was very important for them to teach us.”
In another interview with Zoom, Fardeen Khan recalled the time when he received a lot of backlash and trolling for his weight gain. At the same time, the actor admitted that he had led himself go that way. In his words:
“I was surprised to have got that attention. But, of course, you quickly understand that people remembered you in a certain way. They were surprised to see me. I had let myself go in the way that I had.”

Previously, during a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Fardeen Khan spoke about an anecdote from his personal journey. He walked down the memory lane to the year 2009, and revealed facing issues in having children with wife, Natasha. As a result, the couple opted to go for IVF treatment. However, their experience for the treatment in Mumbai wasn’t good and his wife, Natasha suffered a lot.
