The Indian fashion industry suffered a heavy loss on January 6, 2021, as one of the most iconic and legendary designers in India's history, Satya Paul passed away. The tragic news has broken the internet. The whole glamour industry is numbed at the moment, and it's a nightmarish start to the year for all the fashion devotees out there. Satya Paul was known for reinventing sarees in India with his innovative prints and vivid colour palette. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor, to Malaika Arora, Adah Sharma, Hina Khan, generations passed but he had remained the king of sarees in India. However, Satya Paul was not associated with sarees only as he was also popular for his expertise in kurtis, handbags, scarves, and clutches. In men's case, his belts, wallets, pocket squares, cufflinks, and ties hold a reputed and regal place in the market. However, on Wednesday (January 6, 2021) the iconic fashion designer took his last breath in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Scroll down to know it all!
On January 7, 2021, Satya Paul's son, Puneet Nanda took to his Facebook handle and shared a long, heartbreaking post in which he informed the nation about his father's demise at the age of 78. The doting son revealed that his father had a stroke on December 2, 2020, and was admitted to the hospital. After he had shown some signs of recovery, he had asked his family members to let him spend some time at his second home, Isha Yoga Centre. Going further in his note, the doting son revealed that his family is sad but relieved that his father had passed away at the feet of his master and highlighted some of his accomplishments. Soon after the news of Satya Paul's demise made its way on the internet, some of the biggies of the entertainment industry like Madhur Bhandarkar, Disha Shah, Nitin Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Lakshmi Manchu, Ashok Lalla, and many other have paid their tributes to the iconic fashion designer. Also, his master, Sadhguru paid his tribute to one of his most loyal followers and wrote in his tweet, "#SatyaPaul, a shining example of what it means to live with immeasurable passion and unrelenting involvement. The distinct vision you brought to the Indian #fashion industry is a beautiful tribute to this. A privilege to have had you amongst us. Condolences & Blessings. -Sg." The famous fashion designer and actress, Masaba Gupta also took to her Instagram handle and shared a screenshot of a news article revealing the news of Satya Paul's demise in Coimbatore. The designer penned a short note atop the picture and urged all the fashion institutes in India to teach their students about this iconic fashion designer, who changed the face of fashion in India. Her note can be read as "A true example of an actual BRAND. Homegrown. Put in corporate hands at the right time & one with a signature that will send the test of time. Fashion schools - Please introduce young Indian design aspirants to this BRAND in schools & various other homegrown brands. We can be inspired by the story of Chanel etc., but we must learn what happened on our soil first."
