Bollywood actress, Fatima Sana Shaikh, is all set for the release of her next offering, Metro In Dino, opposite Ali Fazal and Aap Jaisa Koi, next to R Madhavan. However, do you know the actress has been a patient of epilepsy? Recently, she opened up about the time when she faced one of the worst epilepsy attacks while on a flight to the USA.

Fatima took the courage and in a recent conversation with the Humans Of Bombay to talk about her epilepsy journey. She shared a dramatic incident that happened with her on the flight to the USA when a major seizure attack gave a lot of problems to the actress. In her words:

"I had a major episode when I had multiple seizures. I was travelling to the USA and it was via Dubai flight. I got seizures on the flight. Then I was taken to the airport hospitals, I was given the medication but then also my seizures weren’t stopping, then they give me a very high dose."

Fatima further revealed in the interview that she was given a high dose of medications for her seizures to stop that left her immobile as well as sedated. She was already on one chemical drug, which was weaned off to give her the other one. Her seizure was controlled when she was given a different chemical in her body than the existing one. She was drugged out as the actress revealed in epilepsy, one has to wean off one chemical before you can take another one. The emergency medical team had told her to halt the production of two of her major movies- Sam Bahadur and Dhak Dhak. Fatima recalled:

"I was shooting for Sam Bahadur and I was also doing another film with it, I think Dhak Dhak. I had to cancel shoot, one of the guy called me and asked me if I can shoot and I started crying because I couldn’t get out of the bed.  I was constantly dropped out. My emotions were all over the place. I was like this is my reality now. At that time I accepted that this is my disease and people also should know about it as it will help others."

Fatima Sana Shaikh had received good support

The actress further revealed that she took the help of treatment as well as support groups, which helped her be stable. She has not got an episode of epilepsy ever since she sought support. Well, this has not been the first time that the actress opened up about her journey with epilepsy. She has been raising awareness of the neurological condition for a long time now and has been aiming to remove the stigmas related to it and create an environment where there is understanding towards people who live with it.

Fatima has had a chronic illness, and with her demanding career, she has proved her resilience on the importance of the issue. Workwise, Fatima's Metro In Dino is all set to release on July 4, 2025, and the movie has been directed by ace director Anurag Basu. Fatima's chemistry with Ali Fazal has already been loved.
