'Forgotten Island' Trailer: H.E.R. And Liza Soberano Star In Movie Inspired By Filipino Mythology

The trailer of one of the most anticipated animated films of 2026 just dropped. For the unversed, DreamWorks Animation has officially released the first trailer of their original animated adventure film, Forgotten Island. Fans are already expecting the movie to be a super hit granted that DreamWorks Animation is known for franchises like Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda. Blending fantasy, friendship, and authentic cultural mythology, Forgotten Island will release on September 25, 2026.

What does the Forgotten Island trailer reveal?

Forgotten Island centres around 2 lifelong best friends, 'Jo' and 'Raissa.' However, it seems like they might have to separate soon after high school, leading them to prepare for an uncertain future. Interestingly, on the night which was supposed to be their final night together, things take an unexpected turn when 'Jo' and 'Raisa' discover a mysterious portal which transports them to Nakali. Well, Nakali is actually a mythical island deeply rooted in Filipino mythology and also inhabited by magical creatures. Yes, creatures that they had previously heard about in Filipino folklore, like shapeshifters, demons, monsters, and witches.

Alongside the pair, viewers will find a comedic weredog named ‘Raww’ and some colourful allies. Together, they must confront the terrifying ‘Manananggal.’ However, things won't be so easy as ‘Jo’ and ‘Raisa’ soon realise that if they want to return home, the only way for them is to sacrifice their memories, which will mean that they must lose each other forever.
