Former Gujarat CM, Vijay Rupani Died In The Tragic Air India Flight Crash Near Ahmedabad Airport

The former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, is a well-known name in the political circuit. The politician has served two tenures as the chief minister of the state from 2016 to 2021. He was also a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, representing Rajkot West. While his professional career was impeccable, recent news about his presence on a plane that crashed had left the entire country concerned. 

Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, passed away in the Air India flight that crashed near Ahmedabad 

According to several news reports, the Former Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, was onboard the Air India plane which crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on June 12, 2025. The fight crashed soon after it took off for London, carrying nearly 232 passengers and several crew members. A recent news report confirmed the tragic demise of the former CM, Vijay.

Soon the video and pictures of the incident started surfacing online. Posts on X featured the boarding pass of the former CM, Vijay, which has created further concern. While the image mentions that it was not a valid boarding pass, the details of the seat and flight, along with the politician's name, led to speculations online. However, hours later, it was confirmed that the politician didn't survive the crash.

Air India Ahmedabad to London Gatwick flight crashes 

The Air India flight, which was scheduled for June 12, 2025, from Ahmedabad to London's Gatwick, crashed soon after it took off. The flight carried 232 passengers and 12 crew members. Air India, in an official statement, confirmed the news of the crash and ensured that they will be posting updates as soon as possible. The post could be read as:

"Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates as soon as possible."

The Air India flight crashed at the airport on the afternoon of June 12, 2025. The flight, which was identified as a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carried 242 people. Visuals from the area showed a massive blast followed by thick black smoke in the air. While there has been no news of any casualties thus far, more details about the accident are awaited. The flight's online tracker showed that the flight was supposed to take off at 1:10 pm from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad to the Gatwick Airport in London.
