Gabriel Basso Reveals The Reason Behind Deleting His Instagram Handle, 'The Top Of Mount Everest...'

A few days ago, much-loved actor, Gabriel Basso made headlines when he unexpectedly deleted his Instagram. His decision generated shockwaves on social media. For those who do not know, Gabriel Basso is well known for The Night Agent, Super 8, A House Of Dynamite and more. Recently, the global icon revealed the reason behind deleting his Instagram handle.

Did Gabriel Basso delete his Instagram after seeing Mount Everest?

Recently, Gabriel Basso sat down for a candid conversation with Jimmy Fallon, during which he revealed the reason behind deleting his Instagram handle. When Jimmy asked the reason, the much-loved actor explained that it was a random and spontaneous decision. He shared that while scrolling, he came across an image of Mount Everest, which frustrated him because he was seeing it virtually and not in real life, Gabriel was quoted as saying:

"I was doom-scrolling and I saw a picture from the top of Mount Everest. And I was like, ‘Wow, this is beautiful'. And then I stopped and I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ Why do I now know what that looks like? And it p****d me off that that guy stepped over literal bodies to get up there to see that view, and now I was seeing it from my couch. And it bothered me that I had that image in my head now without any effort to earn that visual. And I was like, Dude, screw this whole platform."

Gabriel further explained that after seeing the image, he felt like watching the view himself. He also appreciated the person in the image, who had climbed till the top of the mountain. He concluded by mentioning that he got frustrated seeing that image because he didn’t ask for it. In his words:

"That's what I'm saying. If you make it to the top of Mount Everest, that should be yours. He literally stepped over bodies of people. That's all they wanted to see. And now I'm sitting there going, ‘Huh-huh'. That's whack. That's the non-consensual images on the Discover page. Stop showing me these things. Yeah, but I asked to see it. I pressed ‘play’ to see the movie. I didn't ask to see that view. It was just shown to me."

Who is Gabriel Basso?

For the unversed, Gabriel Basso is a popular American actor. Reportedly, he was born on December 11, 1994, and grew up with his two sisters, Alexandria and Annalise Basso. Gabriel started his career at a young age with projects like Meet Bill and Alice Upside Down. However, his breakthrough came with The Big C. Later, he appeared in films like The Kings of Summer, Super 8, Barely Lethal, The Whole Truth, Hillbilly Elegy and more.

In 2023, Gabriel Basso grabbed attention with his powerful performance in The Night Agent. For the unversed, the action thriller was based on Matthew Quirk’s novel. The success of Season 1 led to multiple seasons. The season 3 of the much-loved thriller is all set to drop on February 19, 2026. Reportedly, the actor went through an intense training for his role in The Night Agent. It is worth mentioning that there is not much information available about Gabriel's personal life; however, reports suggest that he is a father. Reportedly, he welcomed a daughter in 2020.
