Gaurav Khanna Reveals Why He Won't Call 'Anupamaa' Co-Star, Rupali 'A Friend', Says, 'Kabhi Bhi..'

Anupamaa has become one of the most loved television show over the years. Rupali Ganguly made headlines with her comeback as the lead, and Gaurav Khanna impressed the viewers with his dashing looks and impeccable chemistry with Rupali. This further made 'Anuj Kapadia', a.k.a., Gaurav's exit from the show painful for the fans. However, Gaurav's departure from the show sparked speculation about a fallout between the two. 

Gaurav Khanna opened up about his bond with Rupali Ganguly

During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Gaurav Khanna candidly spoke about his bond with Rupali Ganguly. He admitted to having an altercation on the set and revealed whether he quit the show because of the actress. Gaurav when asked about the reason behind his exit, shared that a sane-minded person would never leave a show that has made him a household name, because of another person.

In the same conversation, Gaurav Khanna shared that Rupali is a fantastic co-star and he had learnt a lot from her. He called her his favourite actor to work with, but also admitted that she was not his friend. He revealed that while Rupali was amazing, he won't call her at any time and discuss things with her. He added that he won't do that with Sudhanshu Pandey either. For the uninitiated, Sudhanshu played the role of 'Vanraj Shah' in the show before quitting to pursue a career in music. Gaurav Khanna was quoted as saying:

"Main Rupali ko friend nahi bolunga. Rupali is a wonderful human being from whom I've learnt a lot. Friend kya hota hai ki main kabhi bhi phone kardu ki ye hai, woh hai..., I'm not on those terms with anyone, be it Rupali or even Sudhanshu. Even Sudhanshu Ji bolna chahiye. He's very spiritual, like me. He's a fantastic singer. I'm very happy he's coming out with new songs. I used to say, 'Don't quit singing, please.'"

Gaurav Khanna on altercations with Rupali Ganguly

In the same conversation, Gaurav Khanna, admitted that he and his co-star, Rupali Ganguly, have had their fair share of altercations. He added that they have disagreements over scenes, and everyone comes up with their own ideas. As a senior actor, Rupali carried a lot of the weight on her shoulders. He further stated:

"Altercations hote the scenes ko leke because everyone comes with their own idea, and I respect that — because she, being a senior actor, carries the show on her shoulders. She's the face on the poster; she is Anupamaa. So if I insist that scenes be done according to me, that would be wrong — and I've never done that. Altercations hote the ki like isko aise kar lete hai, woh bolenge aise kar lete hai"
