Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s dream home, Mannat is synonymous with the actor’s success. At an event, Shah Rukh Khan talked about Mannat’s story and that buying it was beyond his means. The actor also talked about not being able to afford any décor as it was way above his salary. Since they couldn’t afford a designer, Shah Rukh turned to Gauri and asked her to design the house.
He also revealed that whatever money they earned, the couple spent it on the house. In his words:
“The only person to turn to was Gauri. I told her, you have some artistic talent, why don’t you become the designer? Frankly Mannat started that way, so whatever little money we earned over the years were spent in buying some stuff. Like once we went to South Africa, we bought leather for the sofa. Back then we were only allowed to carry 100 dollars or some little money abroad from India and they were spent only on buying decoration pieces for the house.”
