Gautami Kapoor First Time Talks About Her Divorce With Photographer: 'People Used To.. Whispering..'

Ram Kapoor's wife, Gautami Kapoor, is a famous television personality. While she started her career with television shows such as Saturday Suspense and Family No. 1, Gautami is best known for her serial, Ghar Ek Mandir, which made her a household name, and her pairing opposite Ram Kapoor (her now-husband) was loved by everyone back in those days. However, not many know that Gautami was earlier married and got divorced within some time. She first time recalled the aftermath of her divorce in times when it was considered taboo.

Gautami Kapoor talked about her first marriage at the age 22

Recently, Gautami appeared on the podcast, The Male Feminist, and was questioned about getting married at a young age. Gautami shared that she tied the knot at the age of 22-23, and didn't have much say in the marriage. Gautami further revealed that her marriage ended quickly, and there were no hard feelings as it was on mutual terms and the right thing to do. She said:

"Very young, I was 22-23 when I got married. Those times were different right women didn't had a say whether they want to get married or they don't want to get married. So, that ended very quickly, and it ended very well. We were happy because that was important, we moved on happily, and that's what matters."

Gautami Kapoor recalled how people perceived her after divorce 

Gautami Kapoor talked about dealing with society after divorce, and stated that in those days, divorce was tough as for people it was used to be a taboo. She noticed everywhere she went, people would talk about her in whispers, but she never cared about them as what she did was right. She said:

"It was tough. Everywhere I went people used to say 'Oh my god, oh my god.' Whispering. So, I knew they used to talk about me so whatever I struck to my ground because I knew it was very important for the person who was there with me. See when a marriage breaks only the two people know the real reason. Jo bahar ke log hai vo apko opinions dege but vo apki ji nahi ji rahe na. Toh opinion dena is easy."

Gautami shared that her family were extremely supportive of her when she ended her marriage though she belonged to an extremely conservative family. They were with her whether they agreed or not. For those who don't know, Gautam Kapoor was previously married to popular photographer, Madhur Shroff.

Gautami Kapoor talked about meeting Ram after her divorce  

Gautami further shared that her divorce happened while she was working on the show, Ghar Ek Mandir. It was the same show where she met the love of her life and her husband, Ram Kapoor. Soon, they became best of friends and stayed friends for two years. Gautami also revealed that they were so close to each other as she knew all about his girlfriends, and she would tell about it to her mother, who was her best friend. However, when she told her mother that she wanted to marry Ram, she was totally against it.
