Anushka Shetty is back on the big screen with a banger, Ghaati, after a two-year break. The film was released on September 5, 2025, and has been eagerly awaited by the fans. However, that is not just because of Anushka's return but because her comeback is with none other than director Krish Jagarlamudi, who is known for his ambitious storytelling. Nonetheless, as Ghaati intrigues the audience, let's find out whether the film has been able to match the expectations.
Ghaati has been scaled up and carries high expectations, as it was the first project Krish Jagarlamudi took on after stepping away from Hari Hara Veera Mallu due to repeated delays. For the unversed, the film was constantly delayed due to Pawan Kalyan's political commitments. Coming back to Ghaati, Anushka stars alongside Vikram Prabhu in a gripping revenge drama set against the backdrop of the Andhra–Odisha border. The film runs for 2 hours and 37 minutes and has received a U/A certificate, given that its storyline revolves around a drug-smuggling ring operating.
Social media has been buzzing with excitement since the first show of Ghaati rolled out. While many viewers were excited to see Anushka back in action, others were equally excited to see Krish's storytelling. Soon enough, X was filled with reviews of the film, with users describing the film's second half as packed with whistle-worthy moments. They pointed out that as soon as the film picks up pace, Anushka enters 'mass mode' and steals the show with her presence, although they felt the background music could have been improved.
A user penned, "Storyline is good, but the execution is bad. Except #AnushkaShetty and locations, nothing is that good." Another wrote, "Very Good Mass Lady-oriented movie in recent times in Indian Cinema. So many whistle-worthy moments. After a long time, we watched Jejamma. Especially Anushka in the Kateramma Kodalu scene." A comment read, "#Ghaati 1st half done (UK Premiers). A good first half, despite a few lagging scenes. @MsAnushkaShetty kudos. Great guts for actors and directors to pull the interval. @DirKrish good job sir. Waiting for the 2nd half. House full in Leeds..."
On the other hand, some users felt that the film was entirely dependent on Anushka Shetty's performance. However, while the story might have been slow, fans felt that the journey was worth it, although they wished the VFX and screenplay had been tighter. Some viewers noted that the second half started a bit slowly due to the backstory, but soon gained momentum with thrilling fight sequences. Nonetheless, they found the female-led film to be an overall good experience.
