Amidst all the buzz around Ghibli-style images, OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, has come forward and informed everyone that their servers have been experiencing a lot of load. Not only this, Sam Altman also added that ChatGPT users will soon face a daily limit on image generation. The CEO of OpenAI said:
"It's super fun seeing people love images in ChatGPT. But our GPUs are melting. We are going to temporarily introduce some rate limits while we work on making it more efficient."
Moving on, not everyone knows how to create Ghibli-style images using ChatGPT. The first step is to visit ChatGPT's official website, tap on the "New Conversation" button, enter a prompt, and submit it. ChatGPT will process your request and generate the corresponding image. However, if someone wants to put this effect on their existing pictures, they can go to ChatGPT's native image generator and upload their image there.
There are numerous AI-generated plugins like Studio Ghibli, Disney, Anime, and many more to choose from. For the uninitiated, this whole Ghibli effect belongs to the famous Japanese studio, Studio Ghibli. It was founded back in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, who are considered as one of the most famous directors in the world of animation.
The renowned animation company has a strong presence in the animation industry and has already created a series of iconic films like Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, The Wind Rises, Princess Mononoke, Castle In the Sky, Whisper of the Heart, and many more. The co-founder and chairman of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, also reacted to the ChatGPT Ghibli Magic feature and criticised it heavily. In a conversation with FarOut Magazine, Miyazaki shared his disappointment in seeing AI creating the art and killing the very essence of it. He said:
"I can't watch this stuff and find [it] interesting. Whoever creates this stuff has no idea what pain is whatsoever. I am utterly disgusted. If you really want to make creepy stuff, you can go ahead and do it. I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself."
Amidst all the buzz around Ghibli-style images on the internet, the famous debate on whether AI will kill human creativity has taken centre stage, and people are sharing their opinions online. Some people are not taking the load and are enjoying the wave of this brand-new trend, which will soon be replaced by another one. So enjoy it while it lasts.
