Further, Gurmeet explained how he felt connected with the acting industry even after belonging to an army background. He revealed how he used to enact whatever was shown on the TV during his childhood and people also used to praise him for the same. Gurmeet shared:

"Being an army kid, we moved a lot. But Dayalpur was a constant; we spent summers there. Back then, TV wasn’t as common. Pure gaon me 1 tha. I’d sit at the front & observe everything & later on, enact it to entertain my family. And when Mohra released, I'd tie a bandana & dance on ‘Tu chiz badi hai mast’. Everyone said, ‘You’re a natural.’ With every ‘Wah’, my resolve got stronger & then at 16, I told Papa, ‘I want to go to Mumbai.’ He’d heard praises from everyone; so he agreed."

Gurmeet recalls his father's unmissable reaction after watching his 'Ramayan' poster

Finally, Gurmeet mentioned his initial days in Mumbai when he came to join the film institute for the first time. Afterwards, the actor went through a huge amount of struggle before he finally got the big break with his cast as 'Rama' in Ramayan. Gurmeet then took his father to show him, his TV series poster and also explained the latter gave an unmissable reaction. Gurmeet explained:

"I came to Mumbai with big dreams & a few bucks. I joined the film institute & ended up spending most of my money. When I ran out of what was left, I slept in the institute with the sweepers. When my friend Sandeep found out, he let me stay with him. And after I graduated, I began auditioning, I’d give 10 in a day. And for the next 4 years, I did modelling, & small-time acting gigs until I got cast as Ram for Ramayan at 24. Papa visited me before the show went live. So 1 evening I took him on my bike & stopped opposite a billboard & pointed towards it. When he saw me on that billboard, he gave me a tight hug! Papa isn't an expressive man, so it was a big deal."
