Popular actress, Hansika Motwani tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, Sohael Khaturiya, in a dreamy affair in December 2022. Now, the actress has delighted her fans with glimpses of her wedding through her new reality show, Love Shaadi Drama, which airs on Disney+ Hotstar. In a recent interview, Hansika shared some interesting details about her love story and wedding with her best friend, Sohael Khaturiya.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Hansika Motwani opened up about her decision to document her wedding for a web series and shared that she wanted her fans to be a part of it. Mentioning that she decided to get married in about six weeks, Hansika revealed that her husband, Sohael was initially uncomfortable with the idea of documenting their wedding as he’s not used to cameras. She stated that everything was shot very organically, but she was criticised for using her personal moments for a show. She said:
“I have perpetually grown up in front of the audience. They have seen my journey and have been part of my life since I was eight. When I decided to be a bride, I wanted them to witness it. And what better way than joining hands with Hotstar? It was just a way to invite them to my big day. The cameras were a fly on the wall. They were around us, but nothing was for the camera. But let them keep talking. It doesn’t matter to me. It’s really okay. I know it’s coming from my heart and it’s legit reality.”

When Hansika was asked to share how she fell in love with Sohael, she revealed that they were never business partners as described by the media. She added that Sohael has always been her brother, Prashant’s best friend, but she never thought that she would get married to him. Reflecting on the same, she stated:
“He has always been around. Along with my brother, he also became my best friend. It was all very organic for us. To be honest, I never thought I would end up with him. That the man who’s around me so often will become the man of my life. All this while when people would say that marry your best friend, I would be like aisa nahi hota hai. But it’s actually true. The equation becomes so different, and there’s this amazing comfort level. It just can’t be expressed, but I think it was just meant to be.”
Though a lot of men have a ‘bro code’ of never dating their friend’s sister, Hansika revealed how her brother, Prashant took the news of her getting married to Sohael. She shared that her brother is very fond of Sohael and that he gave her some warnings before taking the plunge. In her words:
“He is a good boy. Also, he’s really fond of Sohael, and I think he’s more protective of him than me. That makes me jealous, but yes, he was like you better don’t ruin this. He had his warnings for me. As I told you, Sohael has always been a family, and everyone was just happy.”

Further in the interview, Hansika revealed that while she wanted to get married at the age of 24, she was swarmed with work. Given her work commitments, the actress shared that she decided to be patient and go with the flow. However, when Sohael proposed to her for marriage, she couldn't say 'No' and decided to get married to him. She concluded:
“Then I decided it will happen when it has to happen. There was also no pressure on me to get married. But I think Sohael lost patience and told me now we should get married. He decided on that big proposal so that I would be like chalo, let’s go for it. We have been such good friends, life hasn’t changed for us, and it has just gotten better."
