Hema Malini-Dharmendra Wedding Anniversary: When Actress Revealed Being Happy Staying Away From Him

Popular veteran stars and evergreen couple, Dharmendra and Hema Malini on May 2, 2025 have completed 45 years of their marriage ceremony. Dharmendra fell in love with the Dream Girl back in 1970 when she was one of the top actresses. Together, they have two children- Esha and Ahana. Hema is not Dharmendra's first wife. It was in 1954 when he was married to Prakash Kaur. However, as the couple celebrates 45 years of togetherness, did you know there was a time when Hema revealed being happy as Dharmendra stayed away?

When Hema Malini shared that she was happy with herself as she stayed away from Dharmendra

Dharmendra, who was earlier married to Prakash, has kids- Sunny, Bobby, Vijeeta and Ajeeta. Sunny and Bobby are stars like their step sister, Esha. However, the couple who have been married for 45 years has a unique living style. Hema does not stay under the same roof as Dharmendra, as he stays with Prakash and their kids. Hema, once in an interview with the Lehren, had shared the reasons behind their staying separate and about their complicated marriage. Hema had shared that she was content and was quoted as saying:

"I am not feeling bad about it, or sulking about it. I am happy with myself. I have my two children, and I have brought them up very well. Of course, he (Dharmendra) was there, always. Everywhere."

Hema also revealed that no one likes staying away from their spouse. However, sometimes in life, circumstances are such that one has to accept the situation. She shared that it is a desire for every woman to have a complete family, but sometimes the situation is such that things pan out differently. However, she does not have any strong resentment and is proud to have two daughters.

When Hema Malini shared that Dharmendra was supportive as a father

Hema, going ahead in the interview, shared that Dharmendra was always a concerned father, especially when it came to thinking of the future of his kids. Hema, going ahead in the same interview, shared that Dharmendra was always concerned about when his kids would settle down. Hema revealed that due to the blessings of her Guru maa, everything fell in place, but their love story had its challenges. Hema's parents were not ok with the proposal of the actor, as he was already married to Prakash Kaur.

Dharmendra, once in an interview with Lehren, revealed that Hema was not sad about the fact that she was staying away from Dharmendra. Well, Hema Malini was known as the Dream Girl of India, while Dharmendra was called the 'He-Man' of Bollywood. It was on the sets of Tum Haseen Mein Jawaan that love bloomed between the duo. When Hema was asked if staying away was more to do like a symbol of feminism, Hema said:

"Symbol of feminism?. It was nobody wants to be like that, it happens. Automatically, naturally, what happens, you have to accept. Otherwise, nobody will feel like they want to live their life like this. No! Every woman wants to have a husband, children, like a normal family. But somewhere, it went out of the way."
