Hema Malini Wanted An Esha Deol-Abhishek Match? Old Video Surfaces Amid Ex Bharat Takhtani's New GF

After 12 years of marriage, Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani went their separate ways in 2024. However, as the Dhoom actress is gearing up to return to the big screen after her divorce, her ex-husband, Bharat, appears to have moved on in his personal life. The businessman recently posted a mushy photo with Meghna Lakhani, welcoming her to his family. Amidst this buzz, an old video of Hema Malini sharing that Abhishek Bachchan would be the 'perfect match' for her daughter, Esha, has gone viral. 

Hema Malini called Abhishek Bachchan the 'perfect' match for Esha Deol 

In an older episode of Koffee With Karan, Hema Malini had expressed her interest in having Abhishek Bachchan as her son-in-law. The veteran actress had shared the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in many movies including, Sholay and Baghban. As a result, she knew the Bachchan family closely and was of the opinion that Big B's son, Abhishek was the 'perfect choice' for her daughter, Esha Deol. 

However, later Esha had clarified in an interview with India Forums that she considered Abhishek as an 'elder brother' and hence did not want to marry him. Talking about her Dhoom co-star, Esha also said that since he was the most eligible bachelor at the time her mother took his name. Talking about Hema Malini's wish, Esha shared:

“My mother is really very sweet. She took Abhishek's name because at that time he was the most eligible bachelor. She wanted me to settle down with a good person, and in her eyes Abhishek Bachchan seemed to be the best. But I don't want to marry Abhishek Bachchan. Because I consider him like my elder brother. So, sorry mom."

Apart from Abhishek Bachchan, reportedly Hema Malini had also once considered Vivek Oberoi as a future son-in-law. However, Esha denied this match as well and said that her Yuva co-star was not her type. Esha stated:

“Mom thinks of all sorts of things. But definitely not Vivek. He is not my type at all.”

Esha Deol was born to superstars Dharmendra and Hema Malini and is their first child together. Sunny and Bobby Deol are her half-brothers from Dharmendra's first marriage. She marked her debut in 2002 and appeared in a few super-hit films, but could not achieve the wide-spread success like her parents. In 2012, Esha tied the knot with Bharat Takhtani and the two welcomed their daughters, Radhya in 2017 and Miraya in 2019. However, after 12 years of marriage the couple went their separate ways.
