Before 'Hera Pheri 3' Paresh Rawal Has Also Quit Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2', Had Said, 'Encash On The..'

Paresh Rawal's exit from Hera Pheri 3 came as a massive shock to the fans of the film franchise. The film enthusiasts had been praying for the sequel, and after a prolonged wait, their wishes were finally being manifested. However, things took a turn when Paresh suddenly announced that he would no longer be a part of the film.

Paresh Rawal is an integral part of the franchise's iconic trio. He has essayed the role of 'Baburao Ganpatrao Apte' in previous instalments of Hera Pheri, making his exit seem out of the blue. However, this isn't the first time Paresh Rawal has walked out on Akshay Kumar. Before Hera Pheri 3, Paresh had also opted out of Akshay's OMG 2. The film was the sequel to the fan favourite, OMG! Oh My God, which was released in 2012, also featured the duo in key roles. 

When the sequel to OMG was announced, fans had hoped to see Akshay and Paresh on screen once again. However, they were surprised to see that the actor was replaced by Pankaj Tripathi in the 2023 film, OMG 2. However, when he was asked about his absence from the film, Paresh told Bollywood Bubble that he was not convinced by the script and, hence, decided not to be a part of it, making it clear that he preferred substance over commercial repetition. He was quoted as saying:

"I didn’t like the script so didn’t want to be a part of it. I don’t like making a sequel just to encash on the first part like we did in the case of Hera Pheri."

While Paresh Rawal was upfront about his exit from OMG 2, his exit from Hera Pheri 3 has left not just his fans but even his co-cast and makers puzzled. The third instalment of the cult comedy had finally hit a smooth patch after facing several production hiccups. The star trio, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty, had finally aligned their schedules, and everything was good to go. However, Paresh's exit has left everyone confused. 

According to reports, the cast and makers were completely blindsided by Paresh Rawal's decision. So much so, that Akshay Kumar, who bought the rights of the franchise from Feroz Nadiadwala, might even consider legal action against Paresh Rawal for stepping away. In an interview with Mid-Day, Paresh addressed the controversy and revealed that while he acknowledges that the trio makes for a great on-screen combination, he just no longer feels like he is a part of the film. Nonetheless, Paresh did mention that no one knew what the future might hold, hinting that there still might be hope for the franchise to have its original cast. He was quoted as saying:

"I know it came as a shock to many. We three make a great combination with Priyadarshanji directing us, but the fact is that I opted out because today I don't feel like a part of it."
