After a decade-long break from music, Hilary Duff has made a triumphant return with her new single, Mature, released on November 6, 2025. The comeback marks her first original release in ten years, and fans can’t stop talking about the deeply personal tone and stunning visuals that accompany it.
Hilary Duff announced the single, Mature on Instagram with the caption, “Been keeping this one quiet too long. My new single Mature is out November 6.” The post went viral immediately, as nostalgic fans who grew up on her early-2000s hits from Come Clean to So Yesterday flooded social media with excitement. Within hours, searches for her music on Spotify reportedly surged by 400%, underscoring the anticipation surrounding her return. The track was co-written by Hilary, her husband, Matthew Koma, and songwriter, Madison Love.

In the press release of the song, Hilary revealed that the song isn’t about a romantic relationship at all. “The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other. It’s a chuckle, a wink, and a sense of being grateful that we are sure footed in where we landed.”

Mature marks Duff’s first new music since her 2015 album, Breathe In. Breathe Out, which featured the dance-pop single Sparks. In the years since, Hilary has focused on acting, starring in Younger and How I Met Your Father, and raising her three children. But music, she says, was never truly out of her life. Hilary said

“I always knew I’d come back to it, I just needed time — a decade of experiences — to have something real to say.”

After nearly a decade away from the recording studio, Hilary Duff says she always knew she’d find her way back to music, but only when the time felt right. “I always knew I was going to return to music,” Duff shared in a recent interview with Variety. “I needed to feel safe, and I needed to have the right people in my corner and be absolutely 100 percent ready.”
