Honey Irani Gets Emotional On 'Indian Idol', Apologises To Farhan Akhtar, 'I Couldn't Have Asked...'

Farhan Akhtar is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming blockbuster film, 120 Bahadur, alongside Raashii Khanna. For those who don't know, the film is based on the Battle of Rezang La, in which Farhan Akhtar portrays the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati. While promoting the film, Farhan and his mother appeared on the show, Indian Idol, where Honey Irani spoke about raising the actor as a single mother. 

Honey Irani apologises to son, Farhan Akhtar

Recently, Farhan Akhtar appeared on the reality show, Indian Idol to promote his film, 120 Bahadur, but the highlight of the episode was when his mother, Honey Irani came to surprise him. The fun conversation between Farhan, Honey and Aditya Narayan soon turned emotional when Honey Irani apologised to Farhan Akhtar for never working with him and also for being very strict. She was quoted as saying:

"I’m sorry because we have never worked together. I mean, I’ve never worked for you, you’ve never worked for me. So I hope we’ll change that in the future. And also sorry for getting a lot of beating from me. I think I couldn’t have asked for a better son. I’m really, really, really, really proud of him."

Honey Irani didn’t know about Farhan Akhtar writing Dil Chahta Hai

During the same appearance on the singing reality show, Indian Idol, the host, Aditya Narayan also asked Honey Irani about the moment she felt proud of Farhan Akhtar. And the screenwriter revealed that it was when she got to know that Aamir Khan had said yes to Dil Chahta Hai. For the unversed, Dil Chahta Hai, starring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Saif Ali Khan was Farhan Akhtar's debut film as a director. Sharing the moment, Honey Irani said:

"When he came to me and said that Aamir has said yes to my script. I didn’t even know that he was writing. So, that was a very proud moment for me."

Honey Irani’s relationship with Javed Akhtar

Honey Irani and Javed Akhtar tied the knot in the early 1970s, after their film, Seeta Aur Geeta. The ex-couple had two children, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. However, after a few years, the couple started facing marital issues and Javed started developing a relationship with Shabana Azmi. By 1985, the two had officially parted ways. However, during an interview, Honey mentioned that their separation wasn’t just because of a third person, they already were facing issues and somewhere knew that the marriage was going to end.
