"Our relationship wasn't very good at that time. There was distance between us because I was travelling a lot. For the initial 9–10 months of our marriage, things were good. But then success and fame got to my head. When that happened, I neglected my family and had completely lost myself in money, fame, addiction, and women. I did terrible things. I almost left Shalini and forgot about them (family)."
In the same conversation, the Blue Eyes singer was asked about the person who introduced him to substance, and he revealed that some ‘big and influential names’ had teased him. Honey Singh added that he was so addicted to substances that he remained high most of the time. Honey said:
"Few names, few very big and influential names. They had teased me. I was so badly addicted to these substances that I was always high. Most of the time, I was unaware of myself and my surroundings."
Honey Singh further revealed that he never required rehabilitation to overcome his addictions. When he finally decided to quit all kinds of substances, he informed his family about his deteriorating mental health. He needed immediate medical attention, so he prioritised his health over work and went MIA for seven long years until he recovered completely. The singer said:
"I emphasised that I never required rehabilitation to overcome my addictions. I had quit liquor, hashish, and other substances, informing my family about the mental health issues that demanded immediate attention and treatment. My family warned me about potential legal repercussions from international law firms due to my demanding schedule, but I prioritised my health and refused to work until I received proper care. The recovery process took seven long years."
