'House Of The Dragon' Season 3, 'Game Of Thrones' Prequel Promises New Faces, Shocking Spoilers

House of the Dragon is a popular prequel to the hit show Game of Thrones. It first aired in August 2022 and quickly became a global sensation, thanks to its intense political drama, epic dragon battles, and the tragic civil war known as the ‘Dance of the Dragons’. The show tells the story of House Targaryen, the powerful dragon-riding family from which ‘Daenerys Targaryen,’ a fan-favourite from Game of Thrones, comes.

With the series planned to end after season 4, the upcoming season 3 is a key turning point in the story. There has been a whole lot of speculation, rumours and news about the upcoming season and here’s all that we know about season 3 so far.

The new cast of House of the Dragon comes from Hobbiton to Westeros

Rumour has it that English actor, Adam Brown, who played ‘Ori’ from The Hobbit, has joined season 3, becoming the second former Hobbit cast member to join the House of the Dragon. The first one to join the show was Graham McTavish, who played ‘Dwalin’ in The Hobbit.

Graham appeared as Ser ‘Harrold Westerling’ in earlier seasons of House of the Dragon. As per the news, actor, Glendon Footly has also been cast as the Lord of Tumbleton. The addition of the new characters and the cast hints at deeper and more diverse storylines as the Targaryen house edges closer to chaos.

Rumours of House of the Dragon suggest a beheading

Fan-driven leaks from online accounts suggest that a grim twist from the book will be making its way to the show’s season 3. According to winteriscoming.net, a fan account called House the Dragons reportedly made the claim that Ser ‘Criston Cole’ could face a violent end, allegedly he will be beheaded in an upcoming episode, with his head displayed on a spear.

This dramatic turn of events is reportedly set to occur in Episode 7 of season 3. It is directed by Nina Lopez-Corrado, and is said to lead the season into a harrowing finale, which is reportedly titled ‘The Final Tumble’. Although this remains speculative, the rumours are already fueling fan frenzy.

The stakes are higher than ever for House of the Dragon Season 3

As the Targaryen conflict heats up, season 3 will bring even more betrayal, family drama, and power struggles. With dragons flying into battle and loyalties constantly changing, House of the Dragon moves closer to a dramatic and possibly tragic ending, showing the beginning of the fall of the Targaryen empire.

House of the Dragon deal with a civil war in the Targaryen family

House of the Dragon takes viewers back nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, during a time when House Targaryen ruled the Seven Kingdoms with dragons. The story begins when King ‘Viserys I’ chooses his daughter, Princess ‘Rhaenyra Targaryen’, as his heir to the Iron Throne.

This decision sparks major conflict, especially after the king’s second wife, ‘Alicent Hightower’, believes their son, ‘Aegon II’, should be king instead. The kingdom becomes divided between two powerful factions, The ‘Blacks,’ who support ‘Rhaenyra’, and The ‘Greens,’ who back ‘Aegon II’

Key characters like Prince ‘Daemon Targaryen’, ‘Rhaenyra’s’ uncle and husband, Ser ‘Criston Cole’,  a knight who sides with the Greens, and ‘Otto Hightower’, ‘Alicent’s’ father and the king’s hand, all play major roles in the build-up to the brutal civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.

Where to Watch House of the Dragon

You can stream the series internationally via HBO Max (or Max). Fans in India can stream House of the Dragon on platforms like Disney+ Hotstar, Max (HBO), and JioCinema. While season 1 is available on Disney+ Hotstar, Season 2 is available on JioCinema and likely seasons onwards that will also stream there.

The show has already been renewed for Season 3 and 4, with the latter season being the final season. The production for Season 3 began in early 2025, and expectations are already sky-high as the story rushes toward a dramatic conclusion.
