Akshay Kumar's 'Housefull 5' Crosses Rs. 115 Crore In 6 Days, Beats Salman Khan's 'Sikandar'

Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 has made a strong mark at the box office in its first week. The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and it blends comedy with a murder-mystery twist on a cruise. With its star-studded cast and double endings, Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B, the film has kept audiences entertained, even after the weekend ended.

Housefull 5 opened with a strong Rs. 24 crore on June 6, 2025, followed by a powerful weekend growth, Rs. 31 crore on June 7, 2025, and Rs. 32.5 crore on June 8, 2025. This impressive weekend total of around Rs. 87.5 crore confirms the movie’s strength and the excitement it has built amongst people. Audiences responded well to the quirky plot and lively performances, making it a top weekend choice. The demand was so strong that it didn't stop on weekdays, it still goes strong.

Contrary to what normally happens, Housefull 5 stood strong on work days as well. A drop in the box office graph was expected, but the film continues to prove that wrong. On June 9, 2025, it earned Rs. 13 crore and continued to stay in double digits on June 10, 2025 with an earning of Rs. 10.75 crore, making the total box office collection within 5 days of Rs. 111.25 crore. On June 11, 2025, it didn’t show the same strength but was still steady with an earning of Rs. 3.65 crore, making the total roughly of Rs. 115 crore.

The Housefull franchise has been the most loved franchise in the nation, which also reflected in its box office collection. The franchise began in 2010. Housefull 1, which was released in 2010, earned a total of Rs. 124 crore. Housefull 2, which was released in 2012, earned Rs. 186 crore. In 2016, Housefull 3 was released, which earned around Rs. 190 crore. Housefull 4, which was released in 2019, became the first film of this franchise to cross Rs. 200 crore with an earning of Rs. 296 crore. Housefull 5, till now has earned Rs. 115 crore, surpassing Salman Khan’s Sikandar and Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force.

About the film, Housefull 5

The film is about a billionaire, 'Ranjeet' who is celebrating his 100th birthday and is going to announce his will on a cruise. He says the owner of his empire is his son, 'Jolly'. But there are three 'Jolly's', who claim to be the real son. The plot becomes interesting when the billionaire dies, and these 3 Jollys become the prime suspect. But they are unable to remember anything as someone spiked their drinks. That is when the actual drama, comedy and mystery starts. The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Chitrangda Singh, Johnny Lever, Chunky Panday, Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar and more. 

The film also followed a different and unique approach, of different theatre, different killer. Housefull 5 had a dual-version release which were Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B, each offering a different ending with a different killer. This twist made every screening a surprise. The two endings were distributed randomly across cinema halls, creating a buzz around “which version you got.” This innovative storytelling approach paid off, as audiences began comparing plotlines, spotting differences, and discussing theories on social media. To some extent, this twist has some role in the box office collection, as viewers are curious and they go to see both the versions.
