Now that Dharmendra has been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital and is recovering at home, the Deol family is reportedly planning a double celebration.

Dharmendra's wife, Hema Malini, shares an update about his health

On November 12, 2025, Dharmendra was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital and is currently recovering at home. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Dharmendra’s wife, Hema Malini, shared that the veteran actor is doing well and that they are taking it one day at a time. Earlier, on November 11, 2025, many media portals had spread a hoax about Dharmendra’s death. Hema Malini was quoted as saying:

"So far, he is okay. We are taking one day at a time."

The Deol family is planning a double celebration next month in December

For the unversed, on December 8, 2025, Dharmendra will turn 90. Earlier, this month, on November 2, 2025, Dharmendra’s daughter, Esha Deol, turned a year older, but due to her dad’s ill health, she cancelled the birthday celebrations. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the Deol family is planning a double celebration next month. A source close to Dharmendra’s family confirmed that if everything goes well, they will celebrate two birthdays together. The source was quoted as saying:

"If God is willing, we will be celebrating two birthdays next month — Dharamji’s and Esha’s."

When the Deol family strongly reacted to the media's insensitive coverage

While many celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Ameesha Patel and Karan Johar, slammed the media for its insensitivity towards Dharmendra and his family, the Deol family has also reacted. Recently, Sunny Deol became angry with the media and schooled them. He addressed the paps stationed outside the Sholay actor’s house and said they should be ashamed of their actions, as they too have loved ones at home. Earlier, Esha Deol condemned the media’s actions and said her father is stable and recovering. Hema Malini too called the media’s actions unforgivable, disrespectful and irresponsible through a post on her X handle (formerly Twitter).

The Deol family requested privacy after Dharmendra's hospital discharge

Following his discharge on November 12, 2025, the Deol family issued a statement. They mentioned that the veteran actor’s recovery will be continued at home. They also asked the media and the public to refrain from further speculation and to respect their privacy. The statement can be read as:

"Mr. Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy during this time. We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and good wishes for his continued recovery, good health, and long life. Please respect him because he loves you."

Meet Dharmendra's large family

Dharmendra was just 19 years old when he married Prakash Kaur. He was also away from the limelight at the time of their marriage. The couple welcomed four children, two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol and two daughters, Vijayta Deol and Ajeeta Deol. In 1970, the veteran actor fell in love with his co-star, Hema Malini, while they were filming, Tum Haseen Main Jawan. He was already married, and to marry Hema Malini, Dharmendra converted to Islam. The duo had a nikah ceremony in 1979 and followed by an Iyengar wedding ceremony in 1980. The couple welcomed two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
