Hrithik Roshan's Ex-Wife Sussanne Khan's Mother, Zarine Khan Reportedly Passes Away At The Age Of 81

Hrithik Roshan's ex-mother-in-law, i.e., Sussanne Khan's mother, Zarine Khan, reportedly passed away. For the unversed, Zarine got married to producer-director Sanjay Khan in 1996, and she was also a former model and actress of the 1960s and the early 1970s. Zarine Kartak, who came from a Parsi family, was Sanjay Khan's neighbour, and eventually, they fell in love with each other and tied the knot. If the reports are to be believed, she passed away at the age of 81, and is survived by her husband, Sanjay Khan, and children, Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan.

Sussanne Khan's mother, and former model, Zarine Khan passed away at 81

A report by News18 recently revealed that Zarine Khan breathed her last in her Mumbai residence on November 7, 2025. While official confirmation is yet to be out there, if the report by News18 is to be followed, Zarine Khan has been suffering from age-related ailments for a while now. For the unversed, Zarine Khan starred in movies like Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali.

Sussanne Khan, who is a famous interior designer, considers her mother her role model. Talking to the Morung Express, Sussanne Khan once said that her mother, Zarine Khan, had been her daughter's role model, especially for her. She also said that while people know her as Hrithik Roshan's ex-wife, there are very few people who know that she is the daughter of a prolific interior designer. She said:

"My mother Zarine has been a role model for her daughters, especially for me and my other two sisters -- jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali and Simone Arora. Many know me as the wife of Hrithik Roshan. However, very few know that I am in fact the daughter of prolific interior designer Zarine Khan."

It was back in July 2025, when Sussanne Khan took to her social media handle and wished her 'mumsy' on her 81st birthday, with a sweet note. She would often post about her mom on social media and call her a 'strong woman'. Even after Sussanne and Hrithik's split, the actor and the interior designer's mom had a beautiful relationship, which they continued to cherish. While Hrithik would call Zarine 'mom' even after his separation from Sussanne, Zarine, in an interview, said that her daughter never made a hue and cry about the fact that she was getting divorced.

Talking about Hrithik, she said that he is the father of her grandchildren and thus, they are bonded for life. According to FirstPost, Sussanne Khan described Hrithik as a gentle human being, saying:

"I think he is in the wrong profession. His heart is so gentle. He is so human and forgiving. He would have made a great spiritual leader. He never holds a grudge, never gets angry. Only extreme injustice against someone can make him really angry. Otherwise he just lets things go, even if someone wrongs him, or does something that upsets him."

Talking about Zarine Khan, she also co-authored a cookbook. Zarine married Sanjay Khan back in 1996. She was from a Parsi background, and met Sanjay when she was only 14, as shared by her on Magzter. Zarine and Sanjay were neighbours, and she met him through her mother-in-law, Bibi Fatima Begum Khan. After several years of dating, Zarine and Sanjay got married and welcomed four kids: Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan.
