Bollywood actress, Huma Qureshi is regarded as one of the most talented actresses, who has managed to portray complex characters on the silver screen. She has been a part of some interesting films like Gangs Of Wasseypur, Badlapur, Ek Thi Daayan, Monica, O My Darling, and many more, and proved the mettle of her acting chops. The actress, who played the character of an overweight girl in the film, Double XL, has dealt with body shaming in real life as well. In a recent interview, Huma opened up about the same and revealed how she deals with it.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Huma Qureshi opened up about body shaming and revealed how it made her feel vulnerable. Huma also revealed that all the unwanted comments about her size and body shaming negatively affected her to the level that she started doubting her self-worth. Huma said:

When Huma was asked if such negative comments still affect her, she gave an affirmative response. She further added that she now knows what people are thinking about her and her film and mentioned how people reflect their personal biases. Revealing that she takes it with a pinch of salt, Huma added:
“Of course it affects you. Thanks to social media, because of that you know what people are thinking about you or your film. But I also feel like certain reviewers come with certain biases. Because they're also human and who have their personal biases. So you just take it with a pinch of salt and move on, because ultimately what matters is how you do a project and audiences’ love.”
For the unversed, Huma Qureshi got her first break early in her life with the film, Gangs of Wasseypur. In a conversation with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Huma recalled how she was subjected to body shaming during the initial phase of her acting career and revealed she was given no luxurious treatment for her debut film. Moreover, she shared that she was paid only Rs. 75,000 for the film, which made her feel lost and insecure when the film became a box office hit in 2012. She revealed:
“I got my first brush with success pretty early on. Maybe it was just this enthusiasm of getting out of the house and being (an actor) and then Gangs of Wasseypur happened. By 2010 I moved to Mumbai and by 2012 the film was out and it became this big hit in India. My world just exploded. This was a film where they paid me some Rs 75,000, that’s it…I am working with them now, they are my producers. But that was my first film and it wasn’t a fancy affair. There were no five-star hotels, cushioning of vanity vans or an army of people (following you). It was like a bunch of people, who went to Varanasi for three months, shot and came back. Nobody had any clue what was happening. So when it came out, I was like, ‘Whoa! I am the lead in the film? My face is on the hoarding?! Should I have gotten paid more for it? Is this how movies get made?'”
